What a cool old tractor, and what 93 years old. I hope you guys get it unstuck and running eventually. Pretty amazing that the bores and everything else seems to be clean and unrusted after all this time sitting outside. When I was a teenager I loved old military trucks from ww2 and had a 41 early power wagon and some friends with similar trucks. You'd find one that had been sitting in a field for 20 years and throw some gas and battery in it most of the time with some points filing etc it would start and run. I remember a Carry All my buddy found that had 3 cracks in the block, milk shake for oil, and all the instruments were missing the needles. He got it to run with fresh oil and a tuneup and eventually it actually ran pretty good, didn't leak, and had oil pressure and one working rear brake. I think eventually he threw a better engine in it but it was amazing it ran and moved at all. Good luck with it, I bet you get it going.

My grandpa had one of those, I learned to drive a tractor on it. Same year 29' McCormick Deering. It had been converted from steel wheels to rubber tires, and had a box welded on behind the seat for carrying chains and stuff in, but otherwise looked the same. I helped my grandpa cut lots of firewood using the tractor to pull logs out of the woods, he had a small trailer made from the back half of an international scout we would pull behind the tractor too for all kinds of hauling around his property. Be careful of that hand crank, I think I came close to breaking my arm several times while starting it.
@Don_ECHOguy2 жыл бұрын
I have both big brothers to your 10-20, a 15-30, and a 22-36 McCormick-Deering and they both run. On yours it still could be stuck pistons or even stuck valves or both. Might want to take the valve cover off and make sure the valves are free... if there is little wear on the guides it doesn't take much moisture to stick them solid. Good luck with it and hope to see it running in the near future.

@@WatchJRGo Next time, try pulling it in whatever functions as top gear in that thing to give more mechanical advantage to the wheels. I see a lot of people making this same mistake... yes, first/low *does* work best for bump/push starting an otherwise functioning engine, since it will rotate the engine over faster (increasing the likelihood of it starting), and the massive weight of a car gives it enough momentum to get the engine to rotate several times even when the car is only going a couple mph. But for un-sticking a stuck engine, top gear is definitely the way to go. If you think about it, the gear ratios work in reverse when the driven end is swapped... in low gear/low range, the engine has to make many revolutions to get one revolution of the wheel, vs. in high gear/high range, the engine makes fewer revolutions per one revolution of the wheel. Or, looking at it another way, consider going down a mountain in a vehicle; gravity has a much easier time accelerating the vehicle down the mountain if you're in top gear vs. if you're in first gear, because in first, the engine has to rotate much faster. So in the tractor, if you stick it in top gear and pull it, the wheels have more leverage to rotate the engine over more slowly.

I have a carb that is darn similar to that one - I've been carrying it to car shows for like 15 years but never could figure out how to ID it. I just know it's a brass tractor carb and it weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 lbs. Just in scrap brass it's worth a few bucks. Same cast in marking on it, the biggest difference is I think the side towards the front of the tractor has something mine doesn't. I'd love to see you guys get this running.
