Brilliant scene! Nowadays, if this skit was redone, the GREATEST talent in the scene would have been the elevator itself. And it would have only been CG.

There was an elevator operator in NYC at the fabric store “Mood” about 10 or so years ago. I wonder if he still works there. Had that metal accordion thing as well as the elevator door, that he opened and closed.

I don't wish great shows like this were redone and made today. We all know they would pale in comparison and not be worth watching nowadays. I'm just grateful that there were times where wonderful things like this could exist and that we have existing recordings that we have the privilege to watch and share together.

I can't believe that Carol Burnett is going to be 90 in April and Vicki Lawrence will be 74 in March. I didn't realize that they is an almost 16 year age difference between them.

I am glad you finally posted a sketch from the February 9,1972 episode of the Carol Burnett show that featured Vincent Price and Eydie Gorme as guest stars. Please post the "Horror Playhouse; House of Terror" sketch, which also featured Vincent Price, on your KZbin channel, as well as his recitation of "Desiderata", from that same episode of The Carol Burnett Show.

One day i was waiting for the elevator n when the door opened n fog came out with an angel appearing to ask“ yes, going up ? ” I was surprised n puzzled n stammered “ eh … no. Going down” Angel replied cheerfully “ ok. Have a nice day” n the door shut. As i was wondering what that was all about, the door opened again. This time black smoke shot out n the devil 😈 came out asking. “ yes going down ?!!!“ I chose to take the stairs down

In my many years of elevator use, I thankfully never ran into any such characters. Hospitals don't generally have them, usually just medical personnel, visitors, and other "normal" people. Where I live now, 800 miles from my home city (and retired from my hospital job), there are no buildings more than three stories tall. I have no need to be in any of them, so haven't been in an elevator in more than eight years. I'd rather not be trapped in one with such characters as these--though why a race car driver would be in an elevator in his racing jumpsuit and helmet would be interesting to know 🤔.
