This local shop told the customer that his 2016 Cadillac SRX had a bad battery.
Customer replaced the battery himself, and then the car shows back up at the shop on a TOW TRUCK!
Apparently it starts and runs, but can't shift out of park, and nothing works inside...DEAD cluster, HVAC, and even my scanner bluetooth dongle won't power up.
Let's see if we can efficiently pinpoint the problem...hopefully it's something simple!

I paused at 3:00 to note that I have had a huge number of GM's come through my shop that have that same fuse block on the battery. Almost always, someone had replaced the battery and left one of the connectors loose. More often than not, it's usually the 250A one. Nice find though Ivan. Got to love the super simple fixes.

Worked at a Cadi stealership I will back this up 100% we saw it often too. Even had a comeback on flatbed after a new lube tech at our dealership replaced a battery. Loose connections in the fuse block.

My grandfather had a leased SRX that lost all lights, exterior and interior, while driving at night but the engine was still running fine. Dealer said he was crazy and there was no codes. It happened again and he paid to break the lease. This very well could have been the problem.

Hi Ivan! I just got a fun one at my little shop-2009 Buick Lucerne no blower. Used car auction special, the tried lot tried a blower motor, resister, relay and fuse, but no power. When I got it I checked the wire diagram and it just didn't look right at the under seat fuse box-Found "2008" written in junk yard pen on the fuse box. Long story short, wrong fuse box provided no power to blower and 2009 doesn't even use a fan relay. One must think like Ivan!

Oxidized connectors are a very common problem on the old British cars I work on, especially in more humid climates prevalent east of the Mississippi. I would have removed all the nuts and cleaned all contact areas as other fuses are likely to be corroded.

A memory of similar problem came to my mind. My friend had Peugeot Boxer van a long time ago. It didn’t have power in the obd connector. We didn’t have power distribution diagrams. My friend injected 12v to the obd and suddenly the dome light came on 😂 We replaced the dome light fuse and the obd came back to life. I personally wouldn’t have done it but certainly it worked😂

Over here in the U.K. Ford have put those maxi fuses in their Transit vans & pick ups - I've had no end of problems with them and their carriers - all the vehicles I run have two batteries which sort of divide the power requirements between them ( I bought the vehicles used ) the ground cable has some kind of gadget which is an absolute pain in the rear - one vehicle had an intermittent fault in it for months before I twigged it and before I did - it had got me what you would call a $100 citation for stopping where I shouldn't - so I complained (appealled) DON'T at least over here because I went before an old duffer of a judge who had guilty written all over him before I walked in - and bloody fine is growing all the time. Ironically, the same fault occurred in the next truck which broke down it the fast lane of our M25 Motorway - that was damn scary - as the traffic which had slowed immediately speeded up as soon as I stopped and was soon passing at 80mph ( we have a 70mph limit but no one cares ) after an hour the Traffic Police stopped all five lanes and rescued me from the central concrete wall - they were very good about it (no ticket) but after hooking me up and towing to the hard shoulder - they got back in their squaddie and drove off waving a hearty cheerio. Cheers boys!

That was easy! I owned a 2012 Cadillac SRX Turbo Premium, what a piece of crap that was! Spent many thousands in repeated issues with the ECM and throttle Positioner Sensors, the car would, for no reason stutter, go into limp mode, load it on a flatbed, and replace the Turbo, the intercooler. etc, etc. I got rid of it cheaply and replaced it with a 2013 Lincoln MKS Base that has given me no grief!

I’ve seen that odd style “maxi fuse” in VW mk6 cars (2013, 2014). Am surprised to see it in a Cadillac. If one leg of the fuse pack blows, the entire maxi fuse needs to be replaced ($50). And the only way to see if it’s blown is by checking continuity across each leg, as you did. There appears to be no visual sign when one or more fuse legs blow. Not a fan.

I don't recall why I removed the computer off the fuse box, it's been 2 years, I may have been checking the battery terminals and such. Anyway, I put it back on the car is dead. Nothing, wouldn't start. It has power to the dash, doors, lights, but will NOT START. I towed it to the dealer on my dime, the did the same damn thing, in 2 minutes.
