I worked for International Paper Co from 76-84. At first I ran a crane at Blackstone Siding unloading tree length logs for Androscoggin Mill in Jay. Then last 2 years I was on the road repair crew & we installed a lot of culverts on the Realty Road from Ashland to Clayton Lake & as gas north as the Allagash area. If my memory serves me correctly we built the concrete bridge @ 20 mile brook. My uncle had a camp on Big Machais lake. Loved your video, brought back old memories Dave D from southern Maine.

You captured the wilderness of Maine so well. The drone footage made me feel pretty small! Last time I saw that was in Baxter State Park...South Branch pond.

How many steps did you get in with that little walk ? Did you bring your hat with the netting ? I know that you can take care of yourself but I do worry that something could happen to you when you're alone.

@@gingermast4389 it was just around 4 miles. Easy hike. Im bringing my bug net next time. Im good. I always carry in the North Maine Woods.

How old are you? You need a Irdium phone or a Garmin with a SOS 🆘 button just in case. Better to be safe than sorry. I saw you had Starlink so get the Starlink mini for when your off the grid
@MyMaineCabinLife5 ай бұрын
@@thomaswick4260 i dont go out enough to buy the starlink mini. Plus you HAVE to check in and out of the checkpoint. If you dont return they go out looking for you. Im never to far from one of the logging roads. That hike was nothing. I hiked from Georgia to Maine on the AT. Took me 165 days to hike 2192 miles. Im good up there. But thanks.

@@MyMaineCabinLife safety first lol. We go to Moosehead Lake a lot so we check in also but I carry a garmin with me just in case someone gets injured out there regardless of what shape you’re in that works for me. You seem to be enjoying life that’s what living in Maine is all about.

Is there a best place to find owner financing land in Maine besides zillow?
@MyMaineCabinLife5 ай бұрын
@@roxanamashek767 from what ive seen there isnt much. Try joining some Facebook pages with land for sale. I seen some pop up every once in a while. Also there is a realtor a few towns over that specializes in raw property. Look up Mooers Reality in Maine on youtube or his web site.

Well at some age you have to drive to it, even at 25 if you are porting, you need a previous trail. The idea that you can just take a compass bearing to find whatever water body leads to some where, is a joke. I welcome all young pups to do it, even if any one of them could get 1/2 mile. The Maine Woods is a tangle to say the least, a hell hole if you find yourself off a trail. Let a hundred deer flies tell you, your error.
@MyMaineCabinLife3 ай бұрын
@@mikeg4247 I'm not sure what this is about. The NMW is a logging paradise. Just find a old logging trail and follow it. It will lead to the end or to the loading area. Thats one way, or just stay on the roads like I do. I keep all the necessary gear in my truck and adjust it for the time of the year.
