Taking the sidewalk, laying on the horn, playing with sirens, being helped by MTA Police, using PA... Emergency services having a hard time getting through traffic.

NYC drivers are so entitled it’s crazy. That Sienna taxi pulling out in front of the FDNY unit (he got called out on PA!), and the taxis refusing to move for the first unit, wow. Units need to use more rumbler and horn and PA to direct these drivers.

It should be similar to passing a stopped school bus. Not that the fire and ems providers have a lot of extra time, but they should be able to write down or have a recording of the people that deliberately pull out in front of them or that have a way to get out of the way and don't and turn it in to DMV for a ticket and eventual driver's license suspension. If it was their family or them, they would be mad if the providers couldn't get to them in time and there was a bad outcome. People need to have a degree of empathy.

They should. Hong Kong is the NYC equivalent in Asia and they’ve successfully used paramedic motorbikes for decades.

I just can't understand two things: 1. How any driver can be this ignorant and stupid, to not even react to emergency vehicle behind! 2. Pedestrians just looking or not even givin a damn. Me personally would shout right to their windows to get the eff out of the way because there is an EMS or police responding behind them!!

Exactly my words. Thank you I havent write them in english language (which if difficult for me). Just weird how they ignoring an emergency vehicle - or even more idiotic - pull out in front of it just to block it by going into this emty taxi lane at the left. If I would be the emergeny driver I would get out, open his dopr, pull him out and drive his car out of the way, lol.
