Small front wheel , easy to snatch on you on soft sand , low floor pan bottoms out easily, and the limit of the centrifugal clutch and air cooled belt drive , not the best combo for off-roading, but your scoot looks great a lot of good touring options /storage/extra fuel etc just stick to the firmer roads and it will serve you well 👍🏻

Thanks for your comment! Totally agreed with all your points!!! A “Continuously Variable Transmission” isn’t made for that in any way, but that doesn’t mean one day you’ll face a situation like that🤪 hahaha, soft sand wasn’t on my plans to be honest, because I know for sure this bike won’t handle that very well… but I wanted to see what that S.I.P Drive Pulley and Polini Clutch could do in combination with these Kenda Big Block tires! Thank you! Appreciate it you! Peace✌️

@@TheScooterBud I have the Polini 9 roll variator , Polini Kevlar belt and a polini 2g clutch with matching Bell , but no off roading or sand work , pulls well and runs sweet , My Sei Giorni 1st edition No. 114 is a keeper , keep up the good work my friend I enjoy your video’s no end 👍🏻

@Elsie Reid Thanks for your comment! That's a sweet setup!! I wouldn't go off-roading with a 1st edition Sei Giorni!! hahaha, well maybe I would! lol 🤪 I have the Polini 3G with the matching bell too, I don't know much about tunning transmissions and clutches but I do believe the Polini 2G has only two shoes? right? correct if I'm wrong. I never seen a Vespa with a 2G clutch tbh.🤔 Yes, agreed! The Polini MAXI HI•SPEED setup is better than I expected! very responsive, and powerful, I think is one of the best mods I have done to my GTV, and the S.I.P Drive Pulley also feels amazing with the Polini clutch! I have never tried any other aftermarket belt rather than the Piaggio one, I believe performance belts tend to wear out faster than any other. The OEM belt is the most long lasting belt out there! Thanks again for your comment and thank you so much for the support brother! appreciate it you!! Peace✌️

I guessing you still had the tires fully aired up. With small tires it may have not made much difference, but even a big GS would need to reduce air pressure to soften up the tires for sand. With those small tires, you'd prolly be dragging the center stand if you did reduce tire pressure. It's all kewl because now you have tried and you know the limit. That's still one awesome battle scooter. Still enjoyed the video. Now I don't have to try it with mine to see ;)

Thanks for the comment! Well not really! I had them at around 13PSI. You're completely right about the tire pressure, and I did lower it before we jump into the sidewalk through the woods, I just started recording afterward... On the video description, I specify all the setup details including luggage total weight as well as the tires pressure I was at that moment. Yes, the center stand was the one making the Vespa stuck in the sand, I think if I didn't have the bike fully loaded, these knobby tires would have performed much better, even tho I think they did a great job handling that much weight in such sandy terrain. That's actually a good point! maybe if I use a bigger wheel, like a 13" might help to raise the floor a bit more.🤔 hahaha! Thanks for your comment! Appreciate it you, I would be defiantly putting this GTV to the limits!! this was just a short "Sand Test”.🤪 Peace✌️ Note: Having the Side Stand with the Plate Enlarger was really a must have for this situation!

Awesome video! Always wanted to see what knobby tires would be like on a vespa. My experience touring on a GTS there would be way to much weight with the rotopak's that far back and you need to watch the weight too with the top box. You might need to try bring the weight forward or go lighter
@TheScooterBud2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!! Hahaha, they feel very nice so far!! 😎 yeah that’s true! The rear rack is not designed to hold more than 6Kg, and as you can see only with the rack itself and the rotopax mounts is already +20Kg, plus if they are fully loaded is way overweight for sure! I might need to re-enforced that rear rack some how… 🤔 I did spend a few weeks trying to figure out the best place for the RotoPax’s and I thought it might be a good spot since the weight is far down and not too high, I first thought of placing them on the side of the top case, but I didn’t want to drill any holes on my top case and having too much weight that hight would have had affected the handling of the bike, I plan to balance all that weight on the back, like you said, by adding some in the front rack. If I were on a long trip, I would have my GIVI 40L bag in the front, I think that would help to balance a bit more, but I still think that if one day I’m that much loaded and I need to go through some deep sand or mud like that I would have to remove most of the weight to be able to go more easily I guess! 🤷♂️ hahaha anyways! Thanks a lot for the comment and the support brother! Peace✌️

@@TheScooterBud the rear rack will hold way more than 6kg. I wouldn't worry about strengthen it was more to do with balance to much weight behind the rear wheel isn't fun to ride with and adding a counter balance to the front only makes things more sketchy. keeping weight were the humans are meant to be is the key. Looking forward to more video and just checked out your store nice. Haven't seen that under seat fuel tank before.
@TheScooterBud2 жыл бұрын
@Jordie Mounsey Yeah I'm sure to it holds more than that, but with the RotoPax's I think it's a good idea to add some more strength. Agreed! Adding more weight isn't the best idea, I might try to save some weight on other things like, for example, that rear hub is heavy! I might replace it with the CNC hubs, front and read...🤔 Let me know what weight is where humans are meant to be? lol because I keep adding stuff, not sure when to stop! 😬🙄 hahaha! Thanks a lot!! I really appreciate the support! That Auxiliary Tank is one of my favorite accessories!! is very convenient! Peace ✌️
