The trains block the road for hours and the kids can't get to school. I had to deal with this in middle school and high school. There is no way to get around it except walk miles to a bridge.

Apparently the train was blocking the road and I don't know if he crawled under or well, I can't figure it out either. I graduated from that school and many tracks are in this area and sometimes they just sit. Just Saturday here around the corner, a train was just sitting with the last two cars perfectly blocking the entire intersection.

The railroad doesn't care about what time the school starts this problem could have not happen if the kid respected the railroad property and respected it moving its quite obvious to not go under the train while it moving its common sense and stupid..... and number 2 trains dont stop there for long periods of time its stopped because up the line, there's a junction where other rails cross and the train has to wait for a light or another train crossing over ( train always has the right away ) this is exactly why we tech railroad safty

So if the train stops on the tracks all the time, and students are always crossing the tracks when the train is stopped there, why can’t someone build a bridge so that pedestrians can walk above the train and get to the other side? Seems like it could be done with wood or even a metal structure. And for anyone who says it wouldn’t be safe, it would be a whole lot safer than crawling over or under a train while it’s stopped or moving.

I used to take trains through that area all the time the RR police would chase people off and they would keep coming back even in areas where there was a crosswalk they would cut through the train because they didn’t want to take the time to use the crosswalk we see kids as young as 3-4 years old crawling under rail cars and there parents are aware of it but they just don’t watch their children we even get people crossing through moving trains caring bicycles on their shoulder these people do this everyday no matter how hard the RR try’s to prevent it they refuse to stop I’m so sorry for this families loss what a horrible thing to happen but unfortunately this won’t be the last until they these people decide to work with the RR to find a solution for us we have no idea what is fouling our train a mile or even half a mile back and even if I would have asked my conductor to walk the train before I moved by the time he would get back on the headend there could be unknown people fouling our train people need to take responsibility for themselves and their children
