1. If you cannot afford the tuition and living expenses, then don't come to Canada. It clearly states in your visa application that the person applying requires certain amount of funds needed to get the visa example bank statements that you attached w/ your application. Mind you the visa officers know roughly how much it costs to complete a diploma and the living, food, rent, travel expenses. So if you got a student visa that means you proved to the officer & the government that you had the required amount of $ to fund your time in Canada BUT if you are now saying you didn't have that money, you have officially lied on your application and I am sure everyone knows what lying on an immigration application means. 2. I understand some families can't afford to send their kids to Canada but do understand there are reasons why the government limits the hours to 20 hrs & its not because they hate students (Canada loves students because it boosts our economy). The reasons for the 20 hr limit are: A) 20 hrs a week lets you gain credible work experience in Canada while studying. B) The purpose of the study visa is to STUDY not WORK. I would still like to know how Joban who worked 40 hrs/week made time to study. C) 20 hr limit on students allows citizens and permanent resident priority on jobs in their HOMELAND. Joban, a student who was working 40 hours a week as a truck driver. That job could have been offered to citizens and pr's (imagine a citizen or a pr that couldn't get that job because a student has it, as a citizen or a pr i would be pretty pissed off). He worked 20 hours extra each week, you might think that 20 hrs a week is not a lot but it adds up in a month. its 80 hours extra he got paid for.. that could have been given to other students or citizens/pr's. D) 20 hr work week is enough to get you groceries for the week.. the rent and the living expenses should be coming from back home.. and there is a reason why government wants you to get the money from home is because it boosts CANADIAN economy. I understand its hard for students and their parents back home but sorry Canada has to put its interests above yours and if you don't like it, you are more than welcome to go to other countries such as US (can only work on campus, no off campus work allowed). 3. Not being able to afford a living is not an excuse to break the law of the land & your visa restrictions. If that was the case, people who cant afford their mortgages would be robbing banks everyday. (I understand robbing a bank and defrauding immigration officials is completely different but my point is don't break the law just because times are hard.) 4. I feel bad for Joban, since he worked so hard to get where he was but in retrospect he knowingly broke the law several times over the span of months. I read several comments where people want Joban to get a second chance but I disagree with that. If the minister of immigration gives him a chance, he has to do that for so many other people and the govt can't afford that kind of outburst from Canadians and pr's. 5. Last thing, you can't expect the government of a country you are not a citizen or a pr of to change its rules, laws and codes for you. I know several students who make it work with 20 hrs a week and are not breaking the law. Its hard, I never said it isn't but this is what you chose to do. If you wanted to work in Canada, should have applied for Work permit instead of a study permit. Its very simple. if you can't afford it, don't come NOW. It doesn't mean don't come ever, just until you can viably survive in Canada without breaking the laws of the land.

I also researched more about him and I noticed how he wears a turban but his hair is cut.. he was trying to get sympathy from Sikhs. What a joke of a lad. Problem with our Punjabi people is that they think western countries are also following the same rules as India. Western countries are very strict when it comes to rules and regulation. These countries are built on some sort of standards that needs to be followed. In India, one can make a fake adhaar card and can violate the rules even if someone gets convicted, a bribe can be used to tackle the problem. The second problem is, the Canadian govt should allow more hours for students in Canada. Most of the students are belongs to middle-class families and they have a burden on their shoulders, whether its loan or house rent in Canada etc.

Its shitty, and most people go in hopes to build a better life, but nothing is hidden from them.They know what they are getting into before hand. Its evident the majority arent there to study and better themself in terms of education, it was a means of coming here and making money right off the bat. If you break the laws, you gotta face the consequences. He must already know that he was over working then the allowed time before he started doing it. Students in Canada should be thankful atleast they can work outside campus when they are studying. In USA you cannot even work off campus and in campus jobs are impossible to find unless you are doing research. If they make one exception today for him, people would ask for 100 more exceptions.

I saw his interview in which he says that he was aware of this thing that he is breaking the law but there were some responsibilities.the thing is when you come here you say it clearly that I am going only for study and won't do any work there .And then you change your own wordings when u come here.so who's at fault. And now u say 20 hrs are not enough.when one girl from Toronto was deported for over work nobody said anything and what I heard about that she was only going up 4-5 hours every week.That was bad I think.but this is different he was working like a full timer.and someone said very true that in England or Australia many students are being deported but they dnt fight for it because they know they are wrong.Nobody is against the students n nobody should ever be.the thing is dnt misuse the law,respect it.thing we miss back home its here (equal law) and now we want to change it in our way....do we really want this????if said anything wrong I say sorry upfront. Irrational petition, if law regulates working hrs it should be understood that the same applies so that students can work part time to gain some work experience and students are not exploited to do menial jobs, but students are firstly themselves breaking the law and now they want the law changed to meet their irrational and illogical demands, one should understand they have student visa and not a work visa, if u have a work visa none will question you, so study well apply for a work visa and then work well, don't exploit the laws first than question the govt itself, it's you as a student who need to understand and follow the rules

Feel sorry for you bro.. but You were aware about the rules.. They clearly mentioned during giving any of us student visa.. I know its hard to survive by working under 20 hours a week.. But At least you were having roof and food to eat with that 20 hours restrictions. My suggestion to all the future students that.. You suppose to pay a annual tuition fee upfront along with GIC of 10000. So one year's fee around 16000.. and GIC 10000 almost 67% as second year's fee.. Let that money kept in the bank for second year's fee.. Interest vi aanda 10000 dollar da.. All you had to do was to earn for living only till the time you complete your studies. When the second years tuition fee comes.. you would have paid with your GIC. No need to ask your parents for more money.. 20 hours a week was good enough for your accommodation and food. During breaks you were allowed to work full time.. Where were you then?? Dont you had the time to work overtime?? Agar ghar de 15 lacs tak afford nahi kar sakde.. fir kyu tangg karke bahar jaande ho.. Hun apna future taa kharab kita hi kita.. ghar deya de paise vi.. Moron.. Desi pendu calculation kar lenda.. In the past, other students who were caught have met the same fate for breaking this 20 hrs per week condition. He is no special. Court cannot have different decisions for similar cases. While filing for Student Visa, he gave proof that he has sufficient funds (which was untrue) and it is known to all international students that breaking the student visa conditions is not an option. He should have taken loans from banks/relatives/someone instead. He seems to have great skills. He is able to arrange so much of support. No one from the earlier deportation case had this much support. He definitely could arranged funds by borrowing. That would have been more dignified way. Unfortunately he choose to break the rule.
