Ah, wie cool ist das denn? ich habe dieses Video durch Zufall angeguckt. Ich komme aus Riga, lebe und studiere aber in Deutschland :D Warum ist es nochmal so vorteilhaft dort Medizin zu studieren? Diesen Part habe ich irgendwie verpasst. Ich liebe Riga total, könnte mir aber nicht mehr vorstellen, dort zu leben.. Ich finde man merkt den Kontrast sehr stark, wenn man von Deutschland nach Lettland kommt. In DE sind einfach andere Standards, die Menschen sind VIEEEL freundlicher und das Leben ist generell sicherer und günstiger. Ich merke es immer wieder, wenn ich meine Verwandtschaft besuche, wie unzufrieden die Menschen in Lettland sind, weil es so wenig gut bezahlte Arbeit gibt und so wenig Perspektive für junge Menschen. Viele, die ich noch aus meiner Schulzeit in Riga kenne, sind auch vor Jahren entweder nach Deutschland oder England etc. gezogen. Immer wenn ich da bin, macht es mich auch traurig, wie wenig da für alte Menschen getan wird und wie sich nichts ändert.. also bis zu den europäischen Standards brauchen die da auf jeden Fall noch einige Jahre und einfach Wechsel.Aber andererseits ist Riga natürlich an sich total schön, die Häuser und Bauten, Cafees, Restaurants (LIDOO!!!), ich liebe die kleinen Gassen in der Altstadt, generell den Vibe in Riga! Die Natur ist natürlich auch sehr schön (generell in LV), es gibt übrigens sogar einen Wasserfall! Und das Essen ist DER HAMMER. Das ist wirklich etwas, womit Deutschland nicht mithalten kann (meiner Meinung nach), so viel frisches Obst und Gemüse, Fleisch, Brot und die Milchprodukte! Also total spannend zu sehen, dass es Menschen gibt, die sich aus anderen Ländern dafür entscheiden, in Riga zu studieren und interessant zu sehen, wie sowas finanziert und überhaupt organisiert wird, das wusste ich bis dato gar nicht. Als Student mitten in Riga zu leben ist natürlich total cool. Interessant fände ich es, wie es der Student aus Deutschland so empfindet, ob die Menschen anders sind, als in Deutschland und wie er das Verhältnis zwischen Russen und Letten so wahrnimmt/genommen hat? Ist ja schon ne Weile her, dass das Video gedreht wurde. Wobei, er studiert Medizin, da hat er sich eine Beschäftigung für mehrere Jahre gesucht:D ;)

Schade, dass dir vor drei jahren, als du diesen Kommentar geschrieben hast, niemand geantwortet hat. Also mache ich es jetzt, besser spät als nie .-) Ich war gerade mit meinem russischen Freund drei Wochen in Riga. Ich kann alles bestätigen , was du über die Unterschiede zwischen Lettland und Deutschland sagst, wir haben das auch so empfunden. Ich könnte mir sehr wohl vorstellen, in Lettland auf dem land zu leben, weil ich die Ruhe in der Natur sehr mag. Scheitert nur daran, dass ich meine Arbeit hier in D habe und mich in Lettland nicht dauerhaft finanzieren könnte. Tja, und die Russen .... kommt auf das Individuum an. Generell waren mir die Letten aber sympathischer. Wir haben das Okkupationsmuseum etc. besucht und das hat einen großen Eindruck auf mich gemacht ( nicht dass ich es nicht schon vorher gewußt hätte, welche schrecklichen Dinge den Letten passiet sind, aber ich habe dort viele neue Details gelernt).

Not hard at all - we have people from othger countries working in cantines , cafe's & restaurants . Of course if you do want job wich relates communication with people it would be good at least to know some basic Latvian .

If you rich, why not? Not all Latvian students live in old dorm rooms... And even modern Latvian dorms are not that bad, it all depends on how much your parents can afford to spend...

So, You need at least 600-700 euros for each month, in case you will in flat, but you also can live for 500euros each month, not really expensive

I am 21 and German, never heard of Riga before I studied there, nor did I know that Germans attacked Latvia. We never learned that in school lol. Maybe my grandparents did know more about it but they are not alive anymore.
