Good job. My only thought is when you are coming into a non-towered airport and there is other traffic on freq, sometimes it is better to circle around and do a 45 degree entry to left traffic 02 in this case. Gives you a better view of things and the traffic situation. There could be a cub with no radio deciding to take off rwy 20 and you would not see or hear about that. Just something to think about. You did a great job and handled to Class B situation just fine.

@@CirrusMJ Really slick camera work and transitions. Any tips for syncing multi cam and audio? It takes forever for me to get everything lined up 😂
@CirrusMJ3 жыл бұрын
Yes - start the cameras and audio recording within a couple seconds of each other, clap loudly three times. Then pull all the cam video (with their audio tracks) and your voice audio into your editing software, line up the three big peaks in the audio waveforms from the claps, voila. Takes 2-3 seconds rather than 10 minutes trying to line up movement from the video tracks lol

Just remember you are not clear of a runway until all parts of your aircraft including the tail are past the hold short line. You called clear before your prop was even past it.

I live right down the road from the Henderson airport you took off from! I’ve been looking into getting my pilots license for a while now! But don’t know where I should start. What would you recommend to do first for someone wanting to start their pilot journey?
@Shaneepe13 жыл бұрын
Another great vid! I’m sure you folks out west are more comfortable with mountains than me but the peaks of the mountain range and the bottom shelf of the bravo are a bit too close for my comfort 😂.
@CirrusMJ3 жыл бұрын
That is the constant struggle out here. If you're doing just practice are stuff, they typically won't give clearance so you're fighting the shelves and mountain tops the whole time. If you're on an XC and plan your route correctly around McCarran traffic, they typically let you right in. Mountain flying is absolutely beautiful though, just have to really be on point! Thanks for the kind words again though!! :-)

Great video! Concerning your recording for KZbin, with your cockpit video/audio setup, can you adjust the volume of the radio calls separately from the intercom audio? Your’s sounds great...asking for a friend (LOL)!
@CirrusMJ4 жыл бұрын
I think it records a copy of exactly what my volume is, I'm still messing with it to get it perfect, but I think I do need to turn down my ATC volume a little bit because it overpowers us when trying to talk to each other in the cockpit now.

How do record your com radio? Next question.. If this is a non-towered airport, why no 45 entry into the traffic pattern?
@CirrusMJ4 жыл бұрын
Hey Craig! I record the audio using an app called FlightLink that is made for the LightSpeed brand headsets. And the official answer is: you're right, always enter 45 to the downwind. On this particular day, there was a lot of traffic all entering straight in, and because my flight plan basically put me straight in with the runway, it was easier and actually safer to just go straight in with everyone else. Also, there was skydiving activity at the airport, and positioning to backtrack 45 degrees into the downwind would have interrupted their jumps. But again - as the general rule, always enter 45 to the downwind - and under 99% of circumstances, that is what I make sure to do! Good catch though ;-)
@CraigLewis4 жыл бұрын
@@CirrusMJ WOW I wasn’t aware LSpeed an app to do that, I bite the bullet and bought the Bose A20, you’d for the cost they should have something looked that. Thanks.
@CirrusMJ4 жыл бұрын
@@CraigLewis Agreed, it was one of the factors that led me to pick Lightspeed over Bose - but the Lightspeed felt just a bit more comfortable anyways so they won the toss up.

I have to admit, that the engine sounds odd on the takeoff role. almost as if the prop governer seems to struggle with adjustig the prop RPM. I know it from the DA40 as well, but here it sounded a little more intense.

Great flight MJ. Do you like using the AOA indicator especially on base to final? Thanks!
@CirrusMJ4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'll be completely honest with you - I haven't ever used it. I am pretty sure I have to swap the mini-map on the PFD out in order to get the AOA indicator, but that isn't something I have trained on yet. I will ask my flight instructor next time we are flying to show me how to use it though, so thank you!

Two questions. 1) How were you able to do your PPL training in an SR-22? Do you own the plane, or did your flight school have the Cirrus as an option? 2) Were you able to do your check ride in the Cirrus?
@CirrusMJ2 жыл бұрын
Hey Louis! Yes, and yes - my flight school, All In Aviation in Las Vegas, is a Platinum Cirrus Training Partner and has a fleet of about a dozen Cirrus aircraft. I actually took my check ride in the same Cirrus I flew in this video, 643LV.
