Nice work! Love the videos! It was really interesting to see you recognising the factors that influenced your outcomes & then learning from it. From a personal perspective it was reassuring for me to see that others struggle with the same issues I have. Keep the videos coming - Superb 😊👍🏼

It's handy to calibrate with other pilots' views.

Leicester was one of my XC points. Not sure why you feared posting these videos. Apart from the hitting the throttle issues, the go around was a good call. And all my crap landings revolve around being too fast on approach... You home base rw looks scary with those trees on approach!!

Thanks Wayne. This was an achievement, just I feel I could have achieved it better! But can say that about anything in life really I suppose.

There's always a lot to be gained by replaying the flight, I think, and I always have a camera or 3 running so I can catch all those embarrassing moments for future entertainment! Great to see that you're not one of the Never Publish Mistakes group. A lot of folk I know would never admit to anything that demonstrates that, for once, they screwed up. I'm looking forward to seeing you climb the Learning Curve...good luck!

Thank you Mulayam, 👍They are a lot of work I had about 3 hours of footage (multiplied by 3 cameras) to cut into 12 minutes.

Excellent video and nice to see you solo flying. Agree with your analysis too fast but with experience you will find techniques that will allow you to correct for this either on short final or even after the initial bounce. I thought you did really well and the editing was great made it really watchable. Great stuff Martin and by the looks of it lots of interest.

Thanks Terry, think I was just down on myself on the day. Seems a bit better the more I watch it. But yeah can get better.

It is amazing how threshold speed affects the rest of the landing.
@stratotramp62432 жыл бұрын
I think being 1 up made it more sensitive too. Most people have said it wasn't that bad 🤣 but I'm just thinking if you knew it was too fast why are you doing it 😅

@@stratotramp6243 I never really had a problem with landings but I was flying a Warrior so a lot higher wing loading. Light wing loadings can be more difficult.

@@SimonAmazingClarke Is G-FOXA a Warrior - at about 07:18? I find it hard to tell from the wings at the angle I have it. Could just look up the reg thinking about it! 🤣

Nice work dude - I fly out of small dirt strips for a fire service in Africa and we have all been there bad landings - student stress - keep it up nice to watch your journey

Thanks for the support Wolf, interesting to know where my videos are being watched. I wish we had more open / outback land in the UK to fly in (well actually any at all as we have none), what do you fly?

I fly a CTSW which has similar handling to a 2K and they are notoriously difficult to land well. You need to nail the stall speed at the point the wheels touch and land dead straight or it can bite. Could be camera angle but looks like you land nose off to the left. The rounded cowl makes it difficult to get the runway reference straight on the CT.

Thanks David. I think I can see this on both fenland and Sackville landings. 👍 I think in general I need to get a bit more 'happy feet' on the rudder both 2up and 1up. Stall speed was giving me issues 1up. I caught a few CTSWs and CT2Ks in my Popham video if you were there and want to check if out. Registrations are time stamped in the description. Lovely aircraft. Though my instructor wants to get something like a C42 at the end of the season (something easier to train in) probably for the reasons you say 🤣

Did you manage to find Fenland straight away? I always have problems locating it! Liked all of the different camera angles and you were hard on yourself. Signatures all in the book and you and the aircraft got back in one piece!

It was easy with Skydemon. But I've done it manually 3 times before 👍 Thanks!

Nice work, its always interesting how the brain gets filled with all sorts of things when we are trying to land. I've flown a CTSW once before and found it very light on the rudder, on your go-around, was it the camera making the nose seem like it was going left to right? Nice effort and I bet you are glad you have that ticked off now. Onwards and upwards as they say.
@stratotramp62432 жыл бұрын
I think If you go to land too fast the CT has a tendency to enter an oscillation. Guess that was part of it - Probably a bit behind on the right rudder too for the pull to the left from the engine surge in power. Yeah it's another step towards passing and 'really' learning to fly after that. At the moment it's "skilled enough not to kill self or others" needs refinement. 😂
