My brother had this kind of experience when he was in high school. He spent a solid ten minutes scaling the side of the O block building, only to look down from the top and realise the principal was standing there watching him from the ground. The principal clapped his hands and said "well done, very impressive! Do you want to get down now?"

Reminds me of back in 2010, my school had some new software that they'd put on the computers, and instead of just getting staff to activate them, they thought it was a good idea to advertise the product key on the web portal, for students to access to activate them on the computers for them when said software was required. I emailed the IT department to say that they might as well just put it out on social media etc for all because any student can access and use it from home and spread it about to others. They soon quickly changed that lol!

I did something like this when I was 12 in 1981 going to Springfield College's kids computer camp. Some other kid got up from his dumb terminal saying he was going to the bathroom. After he left the room, I popped over to his terminal, and it was still logged in. I sent with an * box around it looking all official "YOUR TERMINAL IS OVERHEATING. SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY AND CONTACT YOUR SUPERVISOR" message to a little old lady that happened to be at a terminal at that particular time of day. She gasped, said, "Oh my God!" and immediately hit the power switch. They grilled the kid, but he had no clue what had happened. They asked me if I knew anything, and I played dumb. I totally got away with it.

In all seriousness, this was a very good thing of the student to do. The student could've done much more nefarious things with his ability and knowledge at hand, but then he/she used it simply to make everyone's day better. Not only that, the student also exposed the vulnerabilities of their system, and now they can prevent a much more sinister hacking plot from happening in the future. It's only sad though that this would be the first and last.
