Coming from someone who works in education, A lot of these rules are preventive and/or something happened at one point that ruined it for everybody. IF, the school has made it clear to parents and students (beginning of the year/parent orientations/school contracts/signs around the school, etc) what the consequences are then I can see it from the schoolsperspective. As for the dad not relaying the message to his daughter it’s really on the parents, but I’m wondering how the school conveys that rule to the students. In my opinion, from what I learned at where I work at we make things clear to all parents and students. We explain clearly what the expectations are to all the families. At that point if another parent or family member didn’t know it’s the fault of whoever signed up and filled out the application for not telling anyone else in the family (if it gets to that point) If you work with kids you understood how a rule like this being broken is serious. I kid you not when I say even the most innocent of situations (like this one maybe) could’ve led to something happening to the teacher. It sounds crazy but trust it is true 😂

“The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) has taken disciplinary action against a student for non-compliance with an established rule regarding food consumption on campus involving a staff member with a severe/life-threatening allergy. The issue arose due to the student eating the allergen in an instructional area where such items are prohibited. Signage is posted in multiple locations notifying students, staff and visitors of this sensitive and restricted area of the campus. The discipline measure is not an arbitrary restriction but a necessary precaution to ensure the safety of a staff member who faces severe, life-threatening allergies to certain foods. Under the guidelines outlined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), MVCTC must safeguard the well-being of all individuals, including students and staff, within the district. Just as the district would attend to the needs of a student with life-threatening peanut allergies, it extends the same level of care and consideration to accommodate the allergies of staff members who work with our students and who have the right to a safe work environment.

Funny. This kinda happened back when I was in middle school. Change the food to scented lotions & instead of 1 person, it's the whole class trying to get revenge on a teacher for reasons. It's a long story 😂😂. Long story short, I'm with the school on this one 🤣🤣🤣

So what about everyone whose deathly allergic to items like peanuts, chocolate, gluten. Does this school policy extend to them as well? Because children will and do eat chocolate 🍫, with peanuts 🥜, 🥜 nuts in any form. All throughout the school.

Yall not looking at the bigger picture, that suspension would go on her school record and ut would show when applying to college. A lot of times you dont get to justify or explain those things of why do you have it on your record

Yayyyyy🙌🏾🙌🏾 We in OH LOVE you Unca Charla 💛 but, my unpopular opinion is, I agree with the school. We don’t know if it was just two chips. But we do know they are not allowed in the school for a very serious reason. Maybe three day suspension? She definitely should’ve been disciplined.
