Walking across the stage at graduation was more than just a personal accomplishment for Cody Sullivan as he became the first student with Down syndrome to complete four years of college in Oregon. His mom, Ann Donaca-Sullivan, says while he and his friends were graduating from high school, he would ask, "Where am I going to college?" Sullivan received his certificate of achievement last month. InsideEdition.com's Keleigh Nealon ( / keleighnealon ) has more. #InsideEdition

I think this is great! I’m not understanding how it’s possible! Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for him and his family. I graduated with a four year degree and it wasn’t easy. The ACT alone is hard to get a great score. Were his classes, test, papers, research, internship the same as everyone else.

So, does this speak volumes about Cody's abilities as a young man with Down Syndrome, a disease that typically manifests with I.Q.'s around 50, or does it sum up the value of an education from Concordia, or almost any modern university in America? Granted, a "Certificate Of Achievement" is not formal recognition of successful completion of a degree program, but one needs to question the integrity of an institute of higher learning that promotes "participation ribbons" on commencement day. Has anyone given any thought as to the impact that this will have on Cody, should he actually have some expectations from this show.

In Oregon you have to be able to put underwear on on the inside of your cloths and not the outside. Your shoes go on before your pants. And then remember that you have to know how to tie BOTH of your shoes and not just one.

@@esoterico6062 Plus the leftie Democrats seem to think and promote the whole "everyone’s a winner" when the ugly reality is, no, not everyone is a winner, not everyone is competent and capable enough to graduate college, get a degree and so on. As far as this guy goes, he can’t be a teacher, it’s not realistic, he cannot speak, you have to be able to communicate clearly and articulate dynamically to be an effective teacher !

I don’t know the details of his degree program, but if they kept the academic standards the same for him as they do for the rest of the students then good for him. He overcame a lot and it’s an amazing achievement. If on the other hand they “modified” his degree program so that he can pass, then that’s pretty disgraceful. Shame on the school for stealing his family’s tuition money in exchange for a degree that means nothing and giving this kid a false sense of accomplishment. I hate to say it, but the latter is probably what happened. Colleges will do anything to keep getting that tuition money. When I was in college, it seemed like half the people I met didn’t belong there. College is freaking scam for the most part these days.
