Such a great plugin. That said, these examples are already SO processed when they hit the the Studer. Like, that first share is so saturated…why not start with something cleaner and show how you can get it there?

Only a couple updates I’d love to see with your amazing plugins. Not having to menu dive to load our own user presets (like in console) and also adding a search bar in console so we can easily load plugins by name. For instance, I always forget if say studer is in the “s” section or the “a” section so I have to scroll through whole list. Then I don’t know if it’s under “tape” “special processing” or “mastering.” Would make so much sense to be able to type “studer” and load in the insert.

This plugin is the greatest tape plugin I've ever tested, and I've tested a lot of them! Question/Request: It would be awesome to hear ONLY the stuff/sound that it ads. Like the wet signal without the dry signal. I could always bounce in place, then bypass the plugin, and then turn the phase of one of them to hear the difference, but it would be cool to be able to do it inside the plugin. AND Automated make-up/down gain :)

I am brand new to mixing in the box. I bought untold thousands on gear and plugins, and now only starting to mess with them. Today, I am trying different saturation plugins, including the plugin featured here. What I am trying to understand is, there was a time when the goal was to have as little wow, flutter, distortion, and noise as possible. I remember getting crap because I recorded on a 4-track Fostex cassette. So why is everybody loving it now? What changed? Thank you.

@UniversalAudio Жыл бұрын
It's a UAD feature that didn't make it into UADx. Nothing to announce at this time, but we know it's missed. You can use your DAW's grouping feature to do the same thing. For example, in PT, you can simply link those inserts and have the same functionality.

Would you be able able to tell me if using this plugin with an Apollo Solo and a Mac M1 is all right? I am afraid this one might be too greedy in term of CPU. Thanks
@UniversalAudio Жыл бұрын
No, it works well with a Solo as it only uses 9% of a chip for mono. Also, you get the free native version of it as well, so you can run more on your CPU.

What is the difference between adjusting the calibration and driving the input harder?
@UniversalAudio2 жыл бұрын
Calibration controls the the amount of fluxivity that is hitting the tape internally, whereas driving the input pushes harder into the entire process including the input electronics.

I think the application of the plug-in should be more subtle at 15 amps
@Claidheambmor Жыл бұрын
I love Studer, however you guys know as well as I do, that increasing volume gives the perception of a better sound. Not making any adjustments to the output gain of the 'wet' versions demonstrates a duplicity which is unbecoming of a company with such a great history.
@ekeneokorocha32362 жыл бұрын
I'm new to this plugin as I use the Ampex 102, Why does it seem to kill the stereo field when I apply the Studder to my bus channel ? For example I automate a pan on a guitar and it seems to move the panning to the center when enabled, I like the character but this makes me not want to use it.
@UniversalAudio2 жыл бұрын
This might happen a VERY little bit due to crosstalk, but it should not be "mono-ing" a stereo bus. Sounds like something else might be going on.
@ekeneokorocha32362 жыл бұрын

Awsome plugin. Horrible video.
@jamodrama Жыл бұрын
Interesting explanation of the A800 - but the sound examples are not useful at all - because - what you say here is a snare, is not a snare, it´s a horrible sounding artificial loop. Good snares you can get (for example) from Pearl, DW, Sonor etc. What you describe here as a bass, is not a bass. For recording I recommend a Fender Precision. Further into the video yoy play a drums subgroup, these are not drums, - again,- these are artifical horrible loops. Why not using real musicians playing real instruments ???
@jamodrama Жыл бұрын
Yes it would be interesting to hear this machine on a snare - on a real snare. What you here describe as a snare has nothing to do with a snare, is nowhere near a snare. What you here say is a snare is just a horrible synthetic artifial boring sound.
