You should be lucky living in LA man! I live in Kazakhstan and can call myself a big fan of theirs but the problem is that Arctic Monkeys have never performed in Kazakhstan and don't think that they ever will(maybe because we're not an English-speaking country). And it's also kinda sophisticated to understand the lyrics, not the content but the precise meaning of the words in that particular context🥲. And his accent also makes it a bit complex to understand what's been said, so I concentrate on the language more than the content:( I'm still incognizant about the background meanings of his lyrics but I'm eager to know 'em, I really want to get into it! Alex looks like a "weary slightly jaded worldly musical poet college professor" in this interview. Thankfully not even a month later he looks a LOT more healthy, polished and stronger. Maybe he was stressed about how the new direction of the record was going to be received by the fans. I love this interview because this is one of the rarer interviews where the interviewer lets Alex do most of the talking. The new album is my least favorite of all the albums. I was fortunate enough to see them play live recently and the new music sounds a millions times better live with Alex performing the lyrics while singing.

@Pantano635 жыл бұрын
@@MrShahid0072 Alex's opinion wouldn't be objective. I mean, he's the one being discussed. I would say, though, Alex wrote pretty much all of the songs by Arctic Monkeys, has another really good band (TLSP), has produced other artists (A. Savior) and has even written a motion picture soundtrack (Submarine). On top of that, he's way, WAY superior to Julian Casablancas in the lyrics department, like, it's not even funny. Julian's lyrics are decent at best like a typical high-school rock band's, and all his other projects are memes (The Voidz?). The Strokes said all they had to say about music in their first album, both musically and lyrically; nothing after that is truly interesting (just what the fuck was Comedown Machine?!). In short, Alex Turner is the superior artist.
@MrShahid00725 жыл бұрын
@@Pantano63 Well.. I simply disagree. No one is objective when it comes to music. It's all opinion. You don't have to explain that. I know that. Now,Alex is better at writing lyrics but Julian is a way better musician imo. His sense of vocal melody is far superior so much so that its not even a competition. Julian's side project 'The voidz' have put out two great records. Their last record was one of the best Rock records of the year. It's been a while Arctic monkeys have put anything that interesting I feel. They had a good roll till humbug and it was just downhill from there. Suck it and see was mediocre record with couple of good tunes and so was AM. Don't even get me started to the new record. People pretending it's "oh so innovative" is a naive statement. Its not. Its just an average record. His material with TLSP is alright i guess. I am not a huge fan. It's nothing innovative. I like few songs here and there. The strokes first two records knock out everything Arctic monkeys have ever put out. Overall, I would say the Julian is a better tunesmith and Alex is a better lyricist. Now I don't see the point of further debating it as I have said everything I wanted to say about it and it's just my opinion! I think Julian is most talented tunesmith after Thom Yorke post 00s. I should mention I love Arctic monkeys and adore Alex's vocals but he simply isn't a better tunesmith and that's what I admire that most in a musician. Lyrics are secondary to me. P.S. If you think voidz music is memes then I don't even care about your opinion anymore. No disrespect but that's just how I feel. Virtue was one hell of a record that received praise from many critics and people who actually care about exploring music. And if you still disagree don't turn this into one of those debates that leads nowhere. You pick Alex and I pick Julian and let's leave it at that. Have a good life!
