How can something feel so old and futuristic at the same time
@adriansaavedra79233 жыл бұрын
Because it travels back to the futurism of the past. The vision of the future portrayed in this album is what was portrayed in the 1950's - 1960's with hints of the 70's drizzled atop and flakes of the energy of the 1980's sprinkled in so it's incredibly futuristic while at the same time feeling nostalgic

It’s a shame that the monkeys lost some recognition and popularity when they released this album as viewing it being created is like this is like watching a magnificent painting being slowly painted. Then again, I guess popularity doesn’t matter and it’s more about the quality of music and in this case I believe that this album is one if not the best of Arctic monkeys. From the composition, lyrics, visuals and style of the album👌🏼

For me, Arctic Monkeys is Arctic Monkeys. They're not like any other band, they don't resemble any other band, they're authentically them, Arctic Monkeys. And people need to stop speculating, thinking they know them, what 'style' they do. Bcoz the fact is, you don't know them, no matter what. They should do what they want, how they like, their own style, not to please anybody without feeling the need to prove anybody, to live up everyone else's expectations. And if anyone keeps complaining how this isn't 'them'/ its not their style or bluffing anything like they 'know' them. Then, maybe you might have to reconsider calling yourself a 'fan'?. 'They provoke you into something you're not, but still not liking the 'you' they've created' i personally think this is how human r nowadays. Never satisfied. Always thinking they 'know' but never actually try to understand and listen. This is my opinion, feel free to have yours.

To the people that said that this was Alex's solo project, I think the footage provides enough evidence against that. You can see everyone is invested in the progression and making of the album. I know this album isn't for everyone but you can see that the lads are enjoying and loving their craft. Regardless of the reception that this album got, I highly respect Turner and Co for pushing their sound and craft. Good work lads.
@danielv81546 жыл бұрын
Thats exactly that I thought too! Yeah sure, Turner probably had the opening piano riffs for some tracks but TBH+C is a collective work. hell, theres about 9 people in room at one point.
@ejj99566 жыл бұрын
Can’t it be both though? Not trying to be a dick just saying this project can be pioneered by Alex and his vision yet still (obviously) include the band as a whole. I mean they are all going to be playing these songs night after night it makes sense for them to play it for the recording as well. This album was a concept album which means Alex had a certain sound and theme he was trying to create to get the story told properly and the band put their own twist on the sound leading to the final product. I think the whole “this is an Alex turner solo album” and “this is a full collaboration of he band” both have some truth and much like everything in life the real answer lies somewhere in between. The result is what matters and this album was a 10/10 in my book simply for being absolutely unique and creating yet another signature sound for the Monkeys... can’t wait to hear the B sides
@McSireson6 жыл бұрын

@@ejj9956 You just put Alex on a pedestal. I don't think even he himself thinks highly of (himself) listen to Jamie's riffs on humbug or Nick's bass on tbhc or Matt's drumming almost anywhere. If something seems alien to you don't start automatically assuming stuff. The new wave of fans think that Alex Turner is the Arctic monkeys and that clearly isn't. They're just mates trying to make good music.
@ejj99566 жыл бұрын
yoyoyyayable yoyo trust me I’m anything but a new fan.... been following their stuff since FWN you’re actually making my point.... just listen to the licks throughout AMs discography with the guitar/drums etc... listen to the mates on their own stuff recently then compare it to what you hear on the album... better yet listen to the last shadow puppets stuff then Tranquility base... this is Alex’s vision and the band helped realize it. If they had no restrictions you really think we would hear this kind of drumming from the legend himself? Suck it and see was a perfect example of what this band can sound like with everyone going all in, this new album is amazing but like I said it’s CLEARY Alex’s vision and a concept album meaning their where guidelines in terms of sound for the band to stick too while creating the project. I’ll say it one more time I LOVE the album I saw them live 2 weeks ago and the new stuff was awesome but its clearly heavily influenced by Alex rather then the band as a whole. He went for a 70’s hotel on the side of a highway in outer space on a warm summers night lol the sound is awesome and paints a beautiful visual that came from Alex more then anyone else. As I said in the first comment this is still a Monkeys album not a Turner solo project but it’s more so one then anything they have done before. It gets a 4 out of 5 and the B sides should be MADNESS can’t wait.

I recently got into Arctic Monkeys during the pandemic, and I haven't been the same. Every album, they reinvent their sound in a way that feels fresh and exciting, but still true to their roots. I've listened to all of their albums and own five of their CDs, I love them all, but TBHC just completely blew me away. The lyrics are dripping with rich, metaphoric lyrics that reveal poignant themes about isolation, capitalism, and how technology and social media affects our society. Every time I listen to it, I find something new to love about it. It's complex, and witty, its swanky and ethereal, and fully makes you feel like a washed-out singer in a glamourous moon hotel during the 1970s and 2170s simultaneously.

I just noticed that a AM was inspired by the 50's and greasers and such but I feel like they implemented a lot of 70's themes into the Tranquility album. I absolutely love how calming this album is compared to last one which was more fast paste. It's really cool how they can just change their theme and style of music on a whim yet still sound like it was made by Arctic Monkeys and that's why I love this band. They always have something new.

his vocal range is stunning, it's so cool to look back at being a teenager and blasting their music, to this time, appreciating the melody and magic of their development and growing. new album is an absolute masterpiece, rich and mystic, love their approach!

Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino is Arctic Monkeys "Pet Sounds". Given that it was heavily inspired by it, it marks a shift in the AM dynamic and now they have entered a realm where they'll no longer cater to fans but cater to themselves and create art.

Other than the maturity in songwriting and the lyrics that seem to blend political satire, lofty fictitious ideas and irreverence - What I love about this album is the 60s/70s sounds. It fits what they are doing so well and imho is a breath of fresh air when compared to the 80s nostalgia many other bands are invoking.

I honestly love this so damn much. I love listening to the songs in the making, I love watching them jam out and all synced up, I love seeing how much fun they're having, well, maybe except for JAMEH (Jamie), I love their friendship, sense of humour (we all got memed at 10:33, there's also that trick that Alex has been doing with his cigarette, pretty sure it started since the "You & I" video, not to mention the silly dancing and singing afterwards).. I just wanted to be one of the Monkeys..
