The reason for the lack of ProMotion is that Thunderbolt 3/4 only supports up to 4K @ 120 so to support higher refresh rates it would cost resolution. Besides they would want to save that for the new Pro Display coming

Hi, there is no on and off switch, does that mean you need to keep de monitor plugged in at all times, or could you use a brick with a switch. Will a brick with a switch do harm to the monitor if you use it regularly, because when I leave the house normally I switch everything off. Also what is the power draw if you keep it plugged in? Could you also check if it possible to hook a Nintendo Switch via a "HDMI to USB Type-C 4K60Hz Active Adapter M/F" up to the monitor and see if it works wit sound and all. Can you charge a phone with one of the three usb-c ports? Thanks in advance, good luck.

The MBP 120hz has half the resolution as the Studio display. There might be a GPU limitation or a TB4 limitation for getting 5K/120 10bit bandwidth to the Studio Display?

Great review, I don’t think I will end up keeping this display. Looking at this one after seeing the XDR is difficult. I am still recovering from buying an IPad Pro with 16 GB of unnecessary ram with future expectations. I don’t think the added features takes away from the fact that the screen technology is old. Sharp, but old. I cant help but think a future mini LED panel is on the way.

Same! And yeah, the VESA adapter is a must. I had the 30" Cinema Display with the stand for a few years and it made my desk so cluttered. I'm now using a 27" QHD LG with the ergo mount and it's nice having my MBP in a stand behind/beneath the monitor along with my Xbox Series S and audio interface.

Hey Oliur. One thing I’m curious about is so far, I haven’t noticed any buttons on the Studio Display at all. Even a power button. Is this right? Does it basically just live in standby mode all the time and simply responds to the wake/sleep status of the connected Mac? Great video! If you casually listen to music or watch youtube most of the time, the speakers in the studio display will be more than good enough to where you won't notice any sound quality issues. If you're an audio engineer, audiophile, or use your computer like a home theater system, then the built in speakers won't cut it for you.

Nope apparently there is no hdmi on thunderbolt and usb c. Such a bummer, unless there’s a way to connect Xbox/PS5 using usb c which I have no knowledge of.

@@hamudahhidir7703 There are ways of doing this, only recently people have managed to get a PS5 working on the XDR display which only respond to apple computers usually, however you can use the Studio display with windows so it's most likely easier to get a PS5 working with it, but your gonna need a switcher to do it! hopefully someone will try when they come out tomorrow.
