In this video I’ll show you how to make Studio Ghibli Cookies! I made a variety of cookies inspired by some of my favourite Studio Ghibli films such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service. This is an easy sugar cookie recipe and they can be decorated with royal icing, melted chocolate and sprinkles, so they would also make perfect Halloween cookies. The full recipe can be found below!
Subscribe and leave a comment letting me know what your favourite Studio Ghibli film is and if you recognised any other Studio Ghibli references in the video! :)

Cookie Ingredients:
100g softened butter
100g caster sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
250g plain flour
25g cocoa powder
Cookie Decoration Ingredients:
50g approx. royal icing
20g approx. dark chocolate (melted)
Gel food colouring
Sugar Cookie Recipe:
1. Cream together the butter and sugar.
2. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
3. Sift in the flour and mix until combined but crumbly.
4. Weigh out approximately 60g of the cookie dough and add the cocoa powder, mix until fully combined and a ball forms.
5. Weigh out the remaining cookie dough into different amounts depending on what type of cookies you want to make and dye with food colouring.
6. Roll the dough out onto a baking sheet to about 0.5mm thickness and cut out the shapes you want to make. Refrigerate for approximately 20 minutes.
7. Preheat the oven to 180C/160F/Gas 4. Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, until they start to colour just a little. Leave to cool completely on a cooling rack.
8. Make icing by adding 1 tbsp water to the royal icing and mix until combined. Add more royal icing to reach a thick but fluid consistency. Add food colouring then pipe the royal icing and melted chocolate onto the cookies to create your desired designs.
