Joe Hisaishi is one of my favorite composers and his contribution to the world of Anime Music is nothing short but legendary. I have listened to almost every soundtrack from all the Ghibli movies and I decided to play 6 of my favorite Ghibli songs in one continuous piano movement. The main goal of this medley is to create a otherworldly atmosphere and make each transition between the songs as smooth as possible.
Compared to my usual arrangements, I tried to focus more on the melody this time and left out exaggerated embellishments, only adding an additional side melody if it complements the overall musical texture very well. I am still experimenting how to play multiple melody voices on the piano without sounding too cluttered.
On a side note, I am also very happy to hear that Hayao Miyazaki has took back his plans regarding his retirement and decided to continue producing new movies for Ghibli! I am definitely looking forward to his next movie!
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the piano music.

Animenz, I want to take this opportunity to thank you ! I am a pianist myself, but before I discovered your Channel 2 years ago, I was rather lazy at practice and I never made any real progress. Playing the Piano was fun, but I was never motivated in becoming better. I‘d rather sit in Front of my screen and start playing video games or watching Animes than playing some random classical piece over and over again. This was until I discovered you and your Anime-arrangements. The Idea of combining my Hobby (watching Animes) with Piano was fascinating! Your arrangements were beautiful and also not that easy to play, which is why I had to improve my skills in order to Play them. Because of you I found a new purpose in practicing. And today, playing the Piano is my favourite Hobby and I strive to become as good as you. So thank you for inspiring me and I really look forward for your future arrangements! Keep doing what you are doing !

Fun fact: the exact samething happened to me. I even asked my parents to continue my piano lessons in my city's conservatory, but I stopped because I didn't work enough, I couldn't deal with both school and piano (and guitar). Now, I keep practising everyday on my own to improve as much as I can. Thanks Animenz for giving us motivation!

lol, I can relate to this as I was just a lazy ass that only really put in half the effort into my practice. After seeing Animenz and Theisther I kinda had a change of heart towards the piano. I stopped seeing it as something that took away my gaming or anime watching time and saw it as something that can further my love for the medium. An absolute inspiration in my case and I'm sure for many other musician out there who've seen his work.

Same with me. I've been playing for a few years and I know I can be way better than I am, but I guess I'm too lazy. But seeing how far you can go with playing the piano really motivates me to do better.

This is one of the greatest things I have ever seen. That score is every bit as great as anything John Williams has ever done. I am so proud to be involved in any way to this movie. The soundtrack, the artwork...a perfect rendering of the wonders of youth, how children see the world and their limitless imagination. The flamboyant colors of the artwork and the innocent playfulness of the soundtracks....all of it is mesmerizing. Studio Ghibli and the composers made a wonderful world as seen/felt by children, while showing daily struggles, but the strong emotions and relationships make it all worthwhile.

Hearing you playing on the piano makes me think of the ocean. It's nostalgic. I remeber a 3 years ago it was more technical playing from you. But with how you play now, I think that you really hit the surface. It's not you just playing the piano. I think I get you. I believe your feelings reached my heart. Thanks for that amazing medley :)

It's amazing how close you are to playing key notes exactly as Joe Hisashi. I could almost mistake you for him given how similar you are to playing the piano close to his style. And just listening to it makes me want to sing.

Gosh, the spirited away song, The name of life, just reminds of a long lost memory that I just can’t seem to unlock.

i guess i was a bit too young to grow up with studio ghibli or maybe my parents just never put on any of their shows or movies for me. but anyway i was absolutely mesmerised by this i can’t even believe how beautiful it is, it’s inspired me to go watch everything by them now

Already commented, but I need to say that that Spirited Away section was so brilliantly executed. Putting those two songs together such that they complimented each other and flowed so smoothly into each next phase. Goddamn. It's really hard to believe this is all improvised, it's too good.

I didn't know who Joe Hisaishi is nor Studio Ghibli but after listening to some of the pieces. So now when I see their names, I would click to listen more. I love the clear, simple notes...your second paragraph explains it. Thank you for your music.

five hours straight of sitting down and listening to various lecturers lecture me on the topic.let's just say i was drained, exhausted and utterly felt defeated... Then came ANIMENZ! Made me feel like the girl who fell from the sky, a princess even. He must be a wizard, a neighbour maybe, both, because he lifted my spirits up in my secret little world. he came calling, charging even and cradled me from the soles of my feet from the melodious wind of his piano
