Without knowing, I replaced the connector and soldered the four small pins with one solder. Does replacing the connector again correctly as above will solve the problem? Or have I destroyed the whole board? Please reply.. Waiting.. Thanking you in advance... 🙏🏻

Apologies for the late reply. The 4 pins should stay separate. 2 are for data and 2 for power. No more than about 5 volts though. So unless you are very unlucky, it shouldn't have blown anything up on the board. Just separate the solder on the pins, make sure there are no shorts between any of them and you should be good.

Where did you find the replacement USB port?
@chrissweetleaf78826 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark. A shop in the UK called Maplin which has now closed down. But you can get replacement sockets from www.rs-online.com, or cpc.farnell.com, or ebay. Search for: usb pcb type b female

i need replacement parts for those internal flat cables anyone know the name off those ? is it "ide'" ?
@chrissweetleaf54535 жыл бұрын
Similar But not quite. You're looking for a 'ribbon cable'. Check the number of pins and do a search on cpcfarnell or radioshack. 👍

Excuse me, I have a problem with a V49 alesis, the controller turns on correctly by the USB but it does not detect the PC is a similar problem?
@chrissweetleaf78825 жыл бұрын
Try different cables, re starting the PC or try a different PC altogether. If still nothing, then it may be the socket. USB uses 2 pins for power and 2 for data so maybe the data pins are not connecting correctly.

I replace the usb port and now the "USB power surge" sign appears, does anyone know what I could have done wrong and how to fix it?

How did you get the USB port off
@chrissweetleaf54535 жыл бұрын
Carefully. 👍 At 9mins 50 you can see the 2 pads at the bottom that hold the socket in place. And the small 4 pads that are the power and data. At 10mins you can see the empty holes.

My M-Audio Keystation 88... i destroyed the socket somehow, opened it all up... everything on the line including the USB-B socket, the MIDI Out and DC9V etc all the sockets are glued to the board with 1 very thick layer of white glue.. completely stumped how to go about trying to ever replace it. I even bought a MIDI to USB cable hoping it could work with my DAW but no go sadly. Kind of funny how they just "neglected" the glue on this fancier model.

Why do they have such tiny pins and so close together? . . . Stupid . . . Also surprising how often these need replacing on second-hand gear.
