There is literally no other DAW as comprehensively effective as StudioOne. It's good at everything. Lyrics and collaboration are by far my favorite updates as I primarily produce/mix/master for other artists. I also like the artist profile function but I'll have to see if I can integrate it into my current file hierarchy that I made previously because of the lack of that feature.

@@jermaineh6298 it's more comprehensive than Protools. I think it's better for producing because of some of it's functions and workflow and there's a few things Protools can't do that StudioOne can (to the best of my knowledge) like import video for film scoring. There's a few things in mixing and recording that Protools may be a little better at but there's nothing it can do that StudioOne can't.

In a vacuum, not a bad update. The plug-in and mixer updates are huge for professional mixers. Aside from that though, there wasn't really anything worth getting hyped about. Presonus, and many other companies, need to get their marketing straight so that they don't disappoint users. No point in making this big teaser/launch event, getting everyone pumped for whatever huge updates they want to see, and then basically provide a ".5" update. S1 is a fantastic DAW and this update keeps it as a fantastic DAW, but I think people were hoping for more. I personally don't care about Atmos, but that's been added to a lot of the competition. I wanted to see a big Ampire update, being a guitar player and Fender being involved now. (Hopefully that still comes). There weren't any updates for composers, not even one new quality recorded instrument (Choir, Strings, Percussion etc.). Not sure if this is enough for me to update from 4, but I do like what was updated. But don't they teach in marketing not to overhype something because it damages the product?

@Michael Lochlann Not really... you could already make custom templates before. These "smart templates" or whatever are for beginners. The lyrics thing... I mean, not for me. If that's a big deal to some people then there's your niche! But that's what I mean, nothing ground breaking here from a musical CREATION perspective. Panning options and fader flip are my personal highlights, along with the new EQ tweaks.

Overall, I am really impressed with all the updates and I am excited to jump right in. Great Job, Presonus!

Can you not quantize loops/edit transient positions in loops in StudioOne? I'm an Ableton user, and we have really great sample editing features, but StudioOne is looking really good. However, not being able to edit a drum loop via transient or quantize it would be a deal breaker.

@@TravisRayLive as you know, although ableton does not have a dedicated show page, but the layout is perfect for live performances. I love the fact that you can edit performances relatively easily in Ableton. When using the show page in studio one, you have to make sure everything is set up before importing audio. They do have a feature where you can transfer parts from your original session to the show page, but that’s not enough in my opinion. We need to be able to edit audio in the show page, similar to the way you can in ableton.

You have a whole Instrument section that you did absolutely nothing for and had the nerve to say this is a version 6 update. I have spent $1000+ on Presonus products because I saw the potential of what it could be. There are more non live instrument playing beat makers in this market and if you are not ever going to add New/Update plugins that cater to that demographic then say that so I can give my hard earned money to another company that will.

So far I saw 2 interesting features. The multi-track presets and the pan modes. Rest seems to be targeted at getting a new as broad as possible audience into Studio One. As most of the already serious users have the basic plugins covered. Understandable though. Too bad there are no UI improvements. It still is the bloated “I have no clue where to look first” feel. No way to make the difference between beats and bars on the grid clear while keeping decent colors, and no way to make channels pop out as all the colors still become the same old dimmed shades of the same thing when deselected. Or (still hoping) it is now possible but not shown. Hope that the most annoying 2 bugs are solved. Would need to test that. Keyboard focus that gets messed up (OSX) and when you think you will be moving notes up and down, it will start selecting different tracks. Or worse, undo or delete something in a plug-in and messing up your arrangement in the back without knowing what just happened. This bug is in there ever since version 3 and reported multiple times. The other bug is a performance bug where plugins on a (master) bus drastically reduce bouncing speeds while not affecting the bounced audio. But glad to see the panning and multi-track presets. Really helpful and worthy additions. Also glad to see Fender is serious about improving Studio One! So no need to look any further and just continue using S1 and keep getting improvements.

With respect to Studio One have a very respectable foundation.. The innovation is really starting to fall apart. Studio One has become my home over the years.. but if I dont see some good improvements over the coming version 6 interations and some real updates for V7.. I will certainly be jumping ship unfortunately. Things I would like to see.. 1. Look at bitwig and ableton for the types of devices and features being offered for a more modular workflow. Modulating any parameters, Let us get some generative powers under the hood 2. Pinnable tracks and buses in the mixer so I can pin anything I want over on the right with the master and listen bus. 3. I know you can import from projects.. But allow me to open a project, highlight any track/ bus/ fx send etc and copy one or multiple with ctrl-c and paste into another project. 4. Project previews, Maybe in the same way you set loop markers.. have another type of marker which is a set short lenght. we put that where we want and maybe each time we save it writes a draft quality short audio file that is playable from the start screen. or instead of markers it simply detects loudest section of track and saves from there. 5. Fix the rename project bug 6. Ableton link 7. Modernised interface with larger colour palette 8. Utilise better performance by splitting the vst load on a single channel to multiple cores like cakewalk did, save me having to use audiogridder. 9. Granular Synthsis Plugin 10. Retrospective AUDIO Record

These new features look amazing. I am working with studio one for a while now. And have everything setup perfectly for a really fast workflow. The only problem I have with studio one is that it is still not utilizing my cpu and ram fully. I have a very powerfull build and for example when exporting big projects the load on my cpu doesn't exceed 15%. this is something that really annoys me. I have unnecessary waiting times because of this. Other thing is offcourse latency, I believe when fully utilizing my hardware this could be brought back by a lot. It may seem that I am complaining a lot. But honestly I really love studio one. It is just because I am dealing with this daily that it has become annoying. I record mix and master for a living so time is money.

Today I went to see whether I could buy an update from, it says 5.5.2 to 6.0 couldn't find anything in my account. Also I have just now figured out that I will be able to read the community posts on the Presonus site but not post. Writing needs a Sphere subscription. This is, in my opinion, unfair to all those people who supported S1 over the years with buying your products and helping to grow your brand. I would love it if the ‘write’ feature and also ‘latch’ feature of the audio channels autonation, is effected when i ‘paste channel settings on all selected tracks in play back! I.e. punching in eg. Chorus section volume and pan positions (just before I turn autonation to none, and play with the balance for this section of song mix, once I’m happy I press stop select then and right click ‘copy channel settings’ and then I re-play from just before this section , id like to be able to put it in latch mode ideally and literally click a button to punch in that for those tracks on that section. I.e. if you put tracks into write or latch and push play then as it’s playing you ‘paste channel settings’ it doesn’t do anything until you have to then shift+ click on vol and the shift and click on panner. Please can presinus add a tick box in the autonation settings that allows ‘paste channel settings whilst in latch to overwrite’ Thanks!!!

Open a fresh session. Add some audio tracks, eg.5. Pretend you are getting a nice static mix balance. Now select all tracks click first and then shift hold click the last to select them all, and push play and select ‘write’ (they all change to write), and push stop. Now put it into read and replay -move the vol and pans on them, and you’ll notice that the automation has been written in for those static values of fader volume and pan Now let’s pretend we want to work on chorus 1 for different levels and panner values: so select the channels and change from read to ‘none’. Play with the faders and panners for this section (eg. chorus 1) and once happy select all the channels (in mixer view) and right click ‘copy channel settings’- now… We want to Play from before this section and literally punch in the copied settings on latch mode with one button for the eg. Chorus 1 and when we press stop it will go back to our original static values -this is where studio one doesnt allow this , so PLEASE can Presonus PLEASE PLEASE add a tick box feature ‘punch in, from paste channel settings, on latch or write’ Thankyou!! Because at the moment the only way to do it is: get the stickers mix, select all and 'write' and 'read' they are all saved great. Now, put all (audio) channels into 'none' and go to a different section of song eg. verse2 get you fader volume levels and any panner stuff how you like for this section and once happy press stop, select them all and right click 'copy channel settings'. put the playback before the section we want to record the automation vol and pan on the selected tracks for. so far so good, BUT THIS IS WHERE ITS ANNOYINGLY FIDDLY (where it could just be 1 click with a new feature:) >>>>>CURRENTLY YOU HAVE TO . click stop. select them and Put them into 'none'' automation mode. Select them all and right click 'paste channel settings' (mixer window) - yep so far so good but the following is where it isnt easy! click stop Select all the channels and 'none' and ‘paste Channel settings' and then we push push from before the section change where we want to record the automation vol and pn values > THEN you put it into write as it’s playing,, THEN shifthold and click vol on any of the selected channels and quickly shifthold click any of the selected panners to get the values written as autonation. If there was a feature ‘punch in channel settings to overwrite in latch mode’ that would aaammmazzxiiinngg

I'm honestly not blown away by this major update. I'm glad I actually switched to bitwig, as I'm not seeing a reason to continue paying for new S1 versions. There are some nice bits here and there, but nothing I'd pay 160€ for. Especially when I compare it to the last 5 updates in Bitwig which I was crazy excited about each of them and those were just normal .1 updates, not even a .5 update lol. Studio One for sure still does things better, but it's like there's no intent to inovate here, which is not a bad thing in itself. Just means that it's not for me anymore. Had some great fun with it through the years though and will still use it for certain things, just not day to day use.

Oh geezz, it looks like I am going to be busy for a while. They really added some good stuff, especially if you are really into production and live performances. I am excited about the video editing part, as well as some improvements in appearance and saving some space in my work area. The only thing I haven't looked at yet is the cost to upgrade from Studio One 5 to the new version.

Studio one is great daw been using it for couple of years now . Maybe you guys can add new features like when In piano roll you can get that transparent chord function written behind the chords rather than being on the left side . Another feature maybe when you transpose the daw would write the key you in automatically . It would really be awesome 😊😊

Everything sounds awesome. I am a version 4 user and am thinking about upgrading to the new version. I've noticed that the transient detection is not that great in version 4. It finds all the transients but it's doing in a non accurate way. I speciffically mena the detection on drums. For some reason it doesn't know exactly where the start of the transient is. Let's take a kick drum for example. Sometimes it puts the marker at the start of the transient as it should be, sometimes it puts the marker on the peak of the transient and sometimes it puts it before the transient even starts. I realize this a very small detail but it's important to me. When I hit quantize 100% and check what it has done it is clear that some of the hits are exactly on the grid, some hits are a little before the grid and some of them are after the grid...so not really 100%. This is especially frustrating when I use the transient detection to create midi. The midi needs to be alligned with the hits and it just isn't. SO I have to manually align almost every other hit when using samples. SO I really don't see the point of this detection feature if it's not accuarte. Has this been improved in the new version?

user opinion , I like S1, but it's my understanding that the Multi-core CPU usage is basically non-existent and they don't seem interested in these top-requested features, as suggested by their own users. I'm at the point where working in larger sessions is basically impossible from a processing standpoint, and mixing projects with conservative track/plugin counts always seems to max out on processor utilization (creating audio glitching/skips/etc.). I'm constantly having to commit/print down effects just to make the session a reasonable work environment. The fact that S1 v6 doesn't have any CPU improvements or modern features, like Dolby Atmos is concerning. They added lyrics, video, and GUI customization options. Who asked for this? None of these are performance improvements, which to me is the most important aspect of a DAW. If something takes me out of my workflow, it has to be eliminated. I have a high-powered workstation, but I'm considering upgrading to something really robust with top-of-the-line multicore/thread count, maxed out top-speed RAM, all M.2 and SSD high-speed drives, and all the other fixings for a top-tier machine that will last for years to come.

honestly I haven't had any issue on a ryzen 7 2700x or on my laptop with a 5800h. I'm working with pretty big projects so 150+ tracks although they are spread around the arrangement. Using a lot of plugins on these tracks too and maxing the dsp load at 50-60% max maybe. But it's true, that multicore still seems to be an issue. I really like what bitwig have done with the new clap plugin format.

Wow! This Vocoder with a Mai Tai lead preset Bom in Gallifrey is fantastic. The preset SVC-11 Band mix knob at 61% gave me a sweet sound I cannot explain. Then I turned on the Matrix Bypass button, which gave it a sequencer-type vibe, sweet.

Everything is excellent and I love that we finally have options for panning right there at the slider. However, I wish we could see all plug-ins and sends on the arranger page like in Pro Tools so I can close the mix window and just mix on the arranger page since I can see faders on my controller already.
