Studio Pressure (Photek) - The Water Margin (Original Mix). Excellent 1995 Jungle track from Studio Pressure, alias for Photek. Quality production as per usual from this guy.

How is it, when we look back at the mid 90s, that the technology seems pretty primitive compared to today, yet the music still sounds more futuristic than anything coming out today?Paradox.....🤔😬
@Steveo55412 жыл бұрын
Synths, samplers have not fundamentally changed, it’s just the speed at which you can organise sounds and music that has advanced. That advancement has probably taken away some of the early creativity.
@danw13742 жыл бұрын
The tempo was much slower back then, it allowed space for more creative drum patterns and chord sequences/samples.
@user-zc5ft9nw9b2 жыл бұрын
No matter what anyone younger says, its way easier to make d&b/jungle now than it was back then making these tunes(all of d&b/jungle 93 through 95) even more amazing when the limited tech is taken into consideration.

Creativity is born through obstacles - problem solving and imagination are the artist’s gateway to expression. Necessity breeds worth.

holy grail of drum and bass right there, what flow and groove. Amazing sound choice. Photek is a musical genius and were damn lucky he was into DNB - i was at the age to hear this when it came out at 21 yrs of age - feel so honoured 🙏

I would believe it, Peel seemed to have an instinct for the best output in every genre. I was once sitting in a car, stoned after work, and he played "Wicked Every Time" by Jaco, and just said "I do like that". Give it a listen! Jump-up ragga jungle, absolutely nailed.

Cracking tune, using a tune from 1993 at a lower key, DJ Vibes - Obsession :)
@terrra_20244 жыл бұрын
It's not sampled from Obsession and doesn't actually use anything from that track. It's just that the riff in Water Margin is the same three note melody as the riff in Obsession. But I get what you're saying. 😊

There doesn't seem to be any direct sampling of this so I wonder what inspired the title??? Amazing tune with a smooth intro, wonderful musicality. Yes sir..
