I personally really like that a lot of the time Prime's melee weapon of choice is an axe, especially when his axe looks like it could be easily used for purposes other than violence. Gives me a feeling that he would rather not be at war, especially when paired with Megatron having a mace, one of the more violent choice for melee weapon.

I swear, Hasbro completely forgot what's the point of studio series. This shouldn't look like the simplified, kids accessible toy. This should be the most accurate (apart from a Masterpiece) version of the character there is: otherwise, why make it a studio series. And that includes the poor excuse of an alt mode. It feels like the designers confused which figures they were designing (the leg transformation feels like it belongs to the mainline version). I don't care if it's heftier than most deluxes (is it? I don't actually know), I've handled some exceptionally designed figures in that class that prove it can be complex and "nice" (bbm wheeljack, tlk hot rod, reactivate bumblebee, to name a few). And the worst thing about this is that since this is STUDIO SERIES, we're probably not gonna get a more accurate overall better version anytime soon (except maybe that takara gimmicky one, but that ain't accessible in europe)

Honestly studio series has become a cash grab. There’s gonna now be two releases of the same character, from the same movie, within the same time, when all the effort could go straight to their mainline. And as you said, why put it on studio series when it’s not following its goal. I’m still waiting for my bay protoform troops there and instead ss is getting filled with the latest content, I won’t be surprised if they start a speculated comics universe there or put the activation in gamer edition subline

I think probably what this is, is a figure that was rushed out the door way too fast in order to be on time for the movie. I think there's going to be both the Takara Version and a Commander Class of this same design.

Yeah, I think I’d recommend it as well if you’re interested. I actually got my copy for $18 on amazon under the used, like new option. The irony is that it was actually new in box, with the box only having a cut on the front of it, and my copy has near perfect QC.

While I do understand the complaints about this figure, I still actually kind of love it. I mostly enjoy the look of it, I find it fun to pose, I’m fine with its accessories, and I do have fun with the transformation. But as you said there are aspects that could have, and should have been done better. Starting with the grey color, I think they were trying to match the color that Optimus has on the box art; which shows that his forearms, smokestacks, legs, and waist have this sort of goldish-silver color to them. However the plastic color used clearly needed a bit more gold coloring in order to match what is on the box. I don’t particularly mind the color that’s on the figure now, but I definitely would have preferred that it look more like what’s shown on the box. As for the leg transformation, I’m actually fine with it. All I’d say is that the waist should have had an extra hinge so that it could go into the body of the truck more in order to make it look less gappy. My main issue is with the arm transformation. For that aspect I would say they should have made the forearms a bit larger and longer so that the hands could flip in, and then have the tabbing port on the side of the arms rather than under them. Then there’s the skirt piece. Now even though the skirt piece on my copy actually holds on pretty well, they definitely should have come up with a better skirt posability design other than that as it does look ugly when you move it all the way up. Though outside of all of that I’d say that I wish the backpack transformed more, or at least tabbed in for the robot mode. Again, I do love the figure, but for me it is one of those fun but flawed figures that did need more work done to it.

I did hypothesise that people still would love this even if I don't think it's worth your money. They were trying to match it as I understand, but that was a terrible decision. See I actually like the Arm Transformation, though I think there is one joint in them that should have been pinned. I find my backpack holds position quite well honestly. I'm glad you enjoy it more than I do.

I like how the shoulders/upper part of the arms transform, my main gripe was that the forearms don’t do a whole lot, which leaves the hands being visible in truck mode. And while the backpack on my copy stays in place well too, I just wish it tabbed in is all.

The weird grey plastic color doesn't bother me nearly as much in person, and that's the only thing that i don't really like about it. When this was revealed they said the colours were the exact ones taken from the movie reference material they were sent but they didn’t try hide the fact they knew the movie didn’t look like that. And my god, that altmode looks like those horrible Burger King movie toys, the ones where you would take cardboard, and just put them together with the little slits in the cardboard, that’s how gappy and hollow the alt-mode feels. Aside from feeling that the leg tires panel switching from the outer side to the inner side is unnecessary as it looks fine without that transformation step, and the monok skirt being a separate piece that could pop off, I dislike the yellowing gray. Sure, I know that it's the movie aesthetic choice for the gray to look yellowed. But on the Studio Series toy, it doesn't look good. That's why I prefer the solid gray plastic mainline version of Orion Pax for TF1 more so than this Studio Series version. Also the mainline energon axe designed to look like he came out of the palm of Orion Pax's hand looks cooler than the Studio Series blue clear plastic axe.

Despite the spoiled plastic look, I think he looks adorable. The rounder, chubbier face works for me and the movie seems to give us new uses for those “smoke stacks”. Even if you have plenty of better Optimus, he looks like he can squeeze in the background as a random dude who just happens to look like prime. Also I haven’t seen any animated Huffer/pipes customs of this guy and I feel it’s being wasted

I actually got this guy a while back, I'm not too impressed by the alt mode but I have come to accept it and it's flaws (Also sidenote, you can pop the cab roof off his back to get a more movie accurate appearance. And you can still transform the figure just fine without it (it's going to be uglier, but it's an option))

I like this figure but what makes the head weird is that it has a bigger forehead than any other op. Just look at it next to any other optimus and the eye section is way lower on tfONE ss prime. Well if you watched Transformers prime, which I know you didn't, The matrix is just a repository of wisdom, it doesn't add double the strength or any other physical ability, all It did was just to give the collective knowledge of the primes, to prime, and it's honestly more inspiring that what was essentially an average dude became one of the strongest warriors, well you could argue that he got upgraded after, is it a different story, I'm saying it's not a sin for Orion pax to have a matrix.

Actually I did. I watched the first half of the show 5 separate times. And then I watched all the way through it on the fifth. And that changes nothing? I still don't like that. I think it's dumb. I don't care if it's explained by it being the Repository of wisdom, and I don't care that it doesn't give strength. I don't even think the Matrix should be what gives that to Optimus. Optimus should be wise on his own, and his strength should be from getting rebuilt stronger.

4:08 I don't want to be rude, but I totally disagree. Allow me to explain: If Orion is upgraded by Matrix to become Optimus, it's subtly implying that he NEEDS Matrix to be a hero, that he is. I prefer to think that Optimus could kick ass even before he'd become a Prime and rose to his position through his actions, earning overwhelming respect from friends and enemies alike, rather than obtaining some arbitrary trinket.

I get your point, but I think Perspective meant that it's ideal if Prime was upgraded from Orion period. No matrix involved, like in G1 or even TFP (but that's if you consider the learner design to be Orion still since much technically didn't change in terms of body shape)

I own this and thought this roast was accurate and hilarious. Somehow, I still enjoy it in the context of being a deluxe, something about being able to look up 90 degrees and the stiffness of the knees and hips with the ankle tilt does it for me. But the color choice is hard to defend, as is the moving crotch piece, which I really wish was pinned in somehow. Instead every few times I open it it pops off. One of these days I’ll just leave it off lol. Anyway thanks and keep it up 👍

I bought Triggerhappy under recommendation from PE and Dr Lockdown. And I must say, I am not impressed. First, all the limbs are squeaky. This is not an issue limited to just this figure, and to some, not even a problem at all. As a product of its time, all the joints are squeaky and not satisfying to pose compared to post WFC line. Second, my biggest pet peeve with this figure, is that when we transform him into plane mode, his legs clamp together, and his feet bend behind, this part for me, his toes will always clash with that spinal part of his. It is very difficult to explain in words, but basically, I joined his legs too tight, and they always clash with his spine when folding his legs.

Something tells me that they might reissue this fig again in another A level wave and fix the "yellowing" issue. Yea, he does look slightly dingy in animation, but this figure takes it way too far. Make him purely silver, give him the normal face, and boom. Easy money and I'll buy the mold. I'll probably end up getting this because its somehow being hard to find, but hey

Honestly I’m more interested in the model kits yolopark are making for TF one. I like the movie designs don’t get me wrong. But this figure is quite different and underwhelming. The metal colour in the film is more of a White Gold/ pearly silver not yellowed grey. If I buy him it I would most likely be repainting it.

I finally got Kingdom Tigatron after 1 exact week. It was stuck in shipping until it got returned to the seller and I had to buy it again with same day shipping. It's 14 bucks after shipping. Tigatron is pretty much what I've wanted since childhood. A samurai-looking mecha that transforms into a panther. But not really, he doesn't look boxy and cyber enough. His face doesn't look human and that's always a plus to me, when it comes to robots. My Tigatron is super tight. My hands hurt handling this thing. I hope some of it gets a but loose later. So the SS TFOne Optimus isn't that good at all. Especially since I have access to WFC game Deluxe Optimus. He's still gonna be my Orion Pax figure. Especially since his alt mode's so drastically different. It's not a truck at all, it's a military car designed for ramming.

@@PerspectiveEnd no, it’s titled as the ‘BRAVE commander’ (As in, optimus is a brave commander). Takara’s has been doing this thing since the bumblebee movie where they would release a leader class figure to promote the films whenever one is coming out. There was the one that looked like the bayverse optimus for the bumblebee film(cuz it was based on concept art) Last year, they released the leader class optimus primal for ROTB. So, it wasn’t made for studio series. But rather as its own thing to promote the film. And the same deal now goes for tf one. A big collectable that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the toylines. Just a nice big premium collectable to have and own really. Why this one is called ‘brave commander’? My best guess is because they already made a leader class optimus for a tf film before, so they might’ve done this to avoid confusion. Idk, but it does look really good.

My SS86 Jazz has some yellowish parts at the thighs but still look a lot less yellow than this. Shame that the Leader Class toy is only in Japan AFAIK, it looks so much better than this.
