Here's the sign of a great interviewer/reviewer. At 4:54, notice how he checks with his host and the camera man, "you okay?" he's taking care of the people around him. As a result he gets and excellent studio tour and the people around him feel comfortable and that the person is looking out for their well being. This guy is a class act, and he comes away from this with new friends and better friends. This is how you treat people to become successful in life. Just like Conan O'Brian says "treat people right, and work hard, and magical things will happen." Pleasure to watch this any time and many times.

I got to 19:39 and totally balked, haha. That's very untrue. Some of the most used lenses in film and video production are actually vintage lenses, particularly in the realm of anamorphic lenses. There are a handful of modern lenses that are quite good, but vintage lenses are a huge market for many shooters. There are a lot of digital elements obviously that have fast become antiquated or unusuable, constantly replaced by brand new tech (in some sense akin to the daws, A/D converters, sample rates, and plugins in audio production), but there are a few very very strong streaks of vintage technology timelessness in the film world just like the analog side of music production.

That style of locking mechanism is super common on rackmount servers because it allows for hot swapping hard drives.

Agreed. This was really cool but I was looking forward to hearing about the design which was done by John Brandt. I was stoked to watch this and then there was almost nothing about the studio itself. I love gear but it needs a balance.
