In this Artist Studio Visit, Lena Kassicieh, an artist, maker, and thinker, raised between New Mexico and Jordan introduces us to her practice.
Inspired by the everyday, her art practice spans photography, ceramics, digital collage, portraiture, and illustrations.
In February 2020, Lena was selected as part of 421’s Mentorship Program, in partnership with Gulf Photo Plus. Through this mentorship program, she produced and showcased her project, ‘Postcards from Mina Zayed’, using the postcard concept to explore place-making and the visual language of Mina Zayed as part of our group exhibition, ‘Mina Zayed: Reflections on Past Futures’.
‘Mina Zayed: Reflections on Past Futures’ exhibition attempted to document Mina Zayed, historically, anthropologically, and architecturally. Through the works of eleven artists, the exhibition sheds light on the context of Mina Zayed through the tools of narrative photography.
