Congrats on the expansion of your business, I recall your first KZbin video and your being happy that you had the slow progression of success... very wise! It is scary to realize that a passion could become a marathon Happy for you

Fantastic!!! My suggestion: invoice for (pre-payment/deposit) 100% of your metal cost (whatever you deem that to be), that part is non-negotiable and the biggest liability for YOU if there is ever a non-payment scenario. I do that with my commissions (sometimes it's an approximation if I can't weigh the metal use exactly, first.) Guinea pig, 🐷!!! I am so excited for your service and your success!! 🌺 🌺 🌺

I can attest to the Paragon Kiln. I just purchased a brand new one and it’s absolutely amazing! I can monitor everything from my phone and I’ve done lots of castings and have had no issues at all. I say take the plunge and get the Paragon. I too did a lot of research and I’m very happy with my purchase.

You will be or have been surprised how much little pieces or big pieces of gold, and silver come off of your cast when your cleaning the investment off. So that barel of crap some people throw out might have nice size or fines of gold in them. Trust me I’ve had small parts come off the tree in there. I used our little submersible wand detector to find them. I’ve used spurs to mill down, and use to size a ring sometimes if I didn’t have something thick enough at the time.

And do not think more flux is better . Exactly make everything comfortable. I can’t express enough exhaust exhaust your buffer and area, casting room /area/ lapidary area, etc. soldering bench. You see where the metal entered your flask/ mold and ran the two dif directions from the Spru, and see sometimes where it was poured to cold, and or cooled to fast being poured and it came together to meet somewhere in the cavity of your investment. I’ve wanted to play with that all with dif colored gold. Tey to get a mix of layers but misc random . Not patterned layers like they are folding now.

Personal opinion regarding the investment cleanup: Soda blasting would be very fast and efficient! You just need the blasting box, enough compressed air (=large enough compressor) and some sacks of (blasting) soda. You could also use nutshells. Best wishes ❤

Do u have a gauge on ur vacune when you pour. Nevermind. Just watching u talk about ur gaskets. I’m so stoked for you casting for other jewelers. Nice work girl. You’re doing big things. Your confidence helps you a lot. Keep it up. Of course idk how old this is. You might be the new owner of De Beers to be announced soon by now.

I love the idea of taking photos so you don't forget who's pieces are who's. My old casting house would take photos of the wax models and email to me when the jobs were done with all the info like weight and fees etc. It gives me the chance to look over them and make sure nothing is wrong or missing etc. My new casting house doesn't do the photos so not sure how the heck they organise things on their end. Heck.... I take photos before I send things off to get cast so I don't forget what I've sent haha

I use knipex 7262200 for cutting sprues, they work really well require very little force for 2-4mm sprues.

Entirely random but , but i can recomend a Panavise for bench top work , obviously you have a few types for different jobs already but a Panavise is a good all rounder..(for when using cut off wheels etc) you seem to like tools so its worth a look and they are reasonable prices

Definitely go with a Paragon and buy it directly from them not from Kiln Frog because they don't have good service. and get the electronic front controller, I forgot how it is called, and definetely need the small window but not the large opening embebed on the front door.

I am a self-taught silversmith myself & wanting to learn how to cast silver and gold. Ive been trying sand casting too...which is fun!! I've learned a lot from watching you....& just wanna say "Thank you" for showing both the good and bad & it gives me hope, lol!! I'm wanting to start a KZbin channel, but I am SO SCARED, LOL!! I just keep saying "no ones gonna wanna watch me!"😂 And im ready to start selling my pieces too, but need to build a website... I dunno why, but that part gives me so much anxiety.🙈🤪 Did you feel that way when you were first starting out?? Did you start selling on IG or FB first?? Any advice you have for me.....?!😁 sorry for the book!! Oh and id love for you to cast some pieces for me as well.....much love from Texas. xxx

Nah that's like 2 3 grand of gold. Gold is too damn expensive rn. It isn't stopping ppl from buying though. Im selling more silver and gemstones other than diamonds. Im gonna need ya to cast a couple mens rings for me, I'll hit you on IG for that. Tom is the man BTW! I built my entire studio and not only did i save lots of money but my bench and other work tables are personal to my needs more than anything I could ever buy. I lost everything in a fire, i spent half replacing everything by building my own bench, tables, shelves. I was able to put money in other more practical places like good tools and such. Im still working to get everything back. It's a good way to make a living but man it can be very stressful. Your videos have helped me lots and others as well. Don't be so hard on yourself. Your killing it, i don't have the personality to vlog so I can live vicariously through you in that aspect even though I'm a man, atleast you're beautiful! Sorry Tom! Not a threat brother, u already know she's a doll! You made her yours! But fr you help lots. Have a good day, Cheers!

As a single person first generation jeweler I totally get the struggle to find vendors. I'd be happy to share some resources and vendors if you're interested. I tried to find a contact email or something but didn't see it on your site. If not no worries, you doing great with what you have already!

Sorry to scare you off from the Paragon. I have loved them in the past but the enameling community as a whole has not been able to use the new kilns with the new controllers because there is not heat retention or recovery after opening and closing so frequently. We all think that is why they were on sale on Rio recently lol! The recovery time is just not good enough for enamelists. I went back and forth with Paragon for a month straight and we couldn’t get it figured out. It is probably okay for burnout but just don’t expect your kiln to get back up to your hold temp after you pull your first flask from the chamber. If it becomes a problem they will pickup and answer the best they can, which is nice, but I never had resolve unfortunately. One of paragon’s previous employees has been open about these changes to their PIDs on enameling forums. Hope that gives more context. Long story short: probably good for burnout but if you plan on ever doing enameling stay away/don’t get the touch screen Bartlett controller. Just want to make sure you’re informed when making your decision. Best of luck excited to follow this new venture!
