A lot of people have also assumed I am neurodivergent, especially autistic. I think it’s not meant badly but people forget that you can have traits of autism without meeting the threshold to be diagnosed. Being queer/alternative/introverted or deeply interested in things doesn’t correlate with neurodivergence for everyone! At the end of the day it’s your journey and you know yourself best, neurodivergent or not. Much love and I’m loving all the content💖💖💖

I'm definitely not saying it's okay for anyone to try and diagnose you because that's definitely a weird boundary to cross, but I'm just sharing some personal insight! As someone who is diagnosed with ADHD, I also am a super high-achiever, perfect grades, hyperfocused on finishing tasks and feeling like a failure if I don't do it perfectly. The idea that everyone with ADHD shares the exact same lives just isn't true tbh! I think that you sound frustrated with something being pushed on you, which is totally valid, 100 percent you can be uncomfortable with strangers thinking they know you better than you know yourself! But also it's not inherently an insult yknow? Either way, I'm sorry if so many comments have been stressing you out!! Besides that, I'm literally so freaking excited for your shop to open! You have made SOOO much progress it's literally insane, I'm so proud of how far you've come!!!!!

I agree, that is a major boundary coss to diagnose someone else. I think maybe it could be people just relating to you in ways and trying to share that, but maybe not getting that it's not okay to outright tell someone they seem nurodivergent. I just got my autism diagnosis at 30 and it's helping me do some self acceptance and coping, but that's a personal choice for everyone to make themselves if they want to talk to professionals about.

I have a very similar experience to you. I was always neurotic and worried about disappointing people but I also struggled with severe depression and anxiety. I am diagnosed with ADHD Combined type and my therapist and I suspect Autism as well (both run in my family). I completely understand where you are coming from. I was diagnosed later in life (mid 30's). For a long time for me, what made me do things, what motived me was anxiety, fear of failure and disappointing people. When I hit my late 20's and my living situation changed I started really struggling with motivation due to having to take care of other normal day to day things besides just myself. I think that the typical story of ADHD we hear is not the 'be all' of it. I was a VERY good student, I have a Masters degree, but I excelled where I wanted and pushed through where I didn't due to that anxiety of being seen as less than. And the main focus of my struggles is not attention or motivation but the peripheral problems that people never talk about, executive functioning, physical/balance problems, emotional dysregulation, ridged structure, working memory issues, social misunderstanding/awkwardness. The more invisible things as I am also very introverted. I was never aware I was so 'different' from people but apparently that was obvious to everyone around me. But the main point I wanted to stress, ADHD and Autism only can and need to be 'diagnosed' when they cause significant problems in your life. If they don't cause you problems, then there's no reason to seek 'validation' from a medical professional. If you are happy, healthy and not experiencing problems in your life, then please don't feel as though you 'have' to look at these diagnoses. Additionally, the new trend of people using ADHD and Autism as an excuse for everything really is frustrating me. I hear it so often and while I sympathise, you can't just say 'well sorry ADHD' and be done with it! Sorry I'm an old cranky person who can't keep up with the kids now 🤣.

I appreciate the rant about being superficially diagnosed by random people. I think people often forget (and I'm guilty of this too) that it's possible to exhibit symptoms of a certain diagnosis without necessarily having it, i.e. how neurotypical people can experience depressive episodes and feel depressed in certain situations, but overall not have depression. I also understand the part of it feeling insulting in a way because when you act how you usually act and you don't see anything weird about it, being told that that behaviour actually proves neurodivergence is kind of shocking because you yourself never saw it that way.

I have to admit that I have wondered if you have AuDHD (because I relate to your energy so much and I am AuDHD). But, yeah, its no ones business unless you want it to be. Personally, I was recently late diagnosed with Autism and 2 other new things. I have 7 diagnoses. And 3 are 3 types of ADHD. Also Autism is a spectrum. (just putting that out there). But for me it has been a useful to help me understand a lifetime of things about myself. WITH THAT SAID: I am just grateful that you are here and share this part of your world because I find it inspiring and makes me smile.

That’s good that you’re bringing up the “armchair psychologists”, because as well-meaning as I’m sure they are, that’s not cool to just diagnose strangers on the internet. Your discomfort with people saying you have this or that diagnosis is SO VALID. It’s so odd for people to think they know something about you that you don’t, ESPECIALLY when we only know the parts of you that get posted to the internet. You know you the best, and if you are able to function in your daily life then you probably don’t need to have a professional check you for AuDHD or anything else. Unless you yourself are curious and are ready to confront the possibility! I can only imagine how awful that must feel and I’m so sorry. I hope that people will think twice before doing this now that you’ve voiced your discomfort. You’re awesome just how you are, Rabbit!!!

as someone with combination adhd and autism I find everything you say about adhd and autism super relatable to my experience. I was diagnosed with ADD as a kid and it never made sense. but also you shouldn't let some randoms off internet comments diagnose you with stuff. some things are common and some things overlap with other things. actually my mother and brother brother were was also undiagnosed autistic until well into adulthood. at some stage my brother got misdiagnosed as bipolar. cause for some reason autstic people keep getting misdiagnosed as bipolar or boarderline personality disorder but none of the treatments ever really work like they should. and because my brother was diagnosed bipolar I had doctors covinced I was also bipolar. I just kept trying to describe meltdowns without knowing the language to describe it and they kept trying to diagnose mood disorders. and I kept believing them. It was a rough time. but things are better now.

Oh, I can't imagine how horribly hot it is where you live. 😭🖤 My advice in terms of clothing is fishnets, thin ripped tights, very light lace, black beach covers are amazing (light, breezy and often have cool patterns and decorations). Instead of metal jewellery that gets hot, try plastic, for example rather than thick metal spiked collars, try something like plastic beaded necklaces. Also big black hats and parasols. And sunscreen! Stay safe and keep hydrated 💖

I am literally so happy for you! You're out here working so hard and making these really one of a kind pieces - I am very excited for the patches! I love having things to put on jackets. I am trying to make and sell things myself while I am currently out of work (I am no where near having literally anything done, haha) but I am honestly worried nothing will be good enough. I would not worry about your patches being perfect because their imperfections are what make them unique. To have someone's are that they crafted from their own hands is so special. Keep up the good work and good luck!

Thank you, this was a very fun video. One thing that might be useful when thinking about the "struggles" that come with ADHD is how these are very much shaped by living in an ableist capitalist society. People talk about having trouble with paralysis and time blindness more, because those are the aspects that our society punishes more. Running around exhausting yourself can still be bad for you. But as a society we value productivity over pretty much everything else. And so it might leave you exhausted, but you won't get the kind of pushback you would get if you couldn't get off the couch. You might even get praised for your work ethic. And so the symptoms of ADD (or any other physical or psychological difference) that don't make you a good "productive" member of society become bigger problems for people dealing with them. So they have to spend more time adressing the negative consequences, justifying themselves to others, and generally talking about it. That doesn't make the symptoms themselves any more "real," but it just makes them more prominent things to adress. As somebody with a visual disability, I spend a lot of time talking about issues with navigating traffic or access to education or telling people not to feel snubbed when I don't recognize them in public. I spend a lot of time having to answer silly questions about "hightened other senses" or how I manage my job. But honestly, none of that stuff really affects me that much in the day to day. What affects me is having to be careful when pouring tea because I might miss the rim of my cup. Or making sure I put the spices back in the right order. But that's not stuff I ever have to talk about with other people, because it doesn't affect them. It's not something they have to accomodate, so it just doesn't come up. Either way, you don't have to identify with autism or ADD to learn useful stuff from productivity videos targeted at the topic. Learning is great. New skills and tricks are great. Doesn't mean you need to fit a certain label to enjoy new information. And anyone who feels like they can diagnose people without their consent outside a professional healthcare setting can fuck right off.

Time management is a skill that can be honed, not necessarily part of a diagnosis. Keep experimenting with what works for you. After 7 years of living in academia culture I had a hard time adjusting to managing tasks in work culture. My academic planner didn’t really translate into “adult” life lol Nothing to do with discipline, just figuring out a new approach to reach goals. You got this 💪

Im so glad you mentioned strangers slapping the neurodivergent "label" on others. I had recently realized I was guilty of doing this and I've been making the effort to get out of that habit. Maybe they're neurodivergent OR they're hyper, or excited to talk about/show something to whoever will listen, or they put on a happy "stage persona" or the other thousand explanations tgat could be why they are displaying certain traits. Stop falling for/creating stereotypes!!!!

cant we let people just be themselves? everyone has the right to be themselves and express themselves without small minded clones trying to think of a reason why they are showing a shred of individuality. humans are meant to be individual, however this society has killed all indivuality and turned everyone into a clone who acts like a sheep who judges anyone that acts any different to them or the other sheep

If you haven't already, this would be a good time to start a stretching/massage routine for your hands and arms (and neck, shoulders and back). It's easy to develop inflammation, especially in your wrists and elbows, when you work with your hands a lot. It's good to keep switching between different activities, too. Doing one thing continuously, for a long period time, is your body's worst enemy. Once you start getting symptoms, it's already so late that you should stop doing whatever causes it for a while, in order to heal, which can be a huge setback. A healthy entrepreneur is one that can work for many years. Your body is your most important tool.

I've been saving up your videos to binge when I'm getting creativity block and you never fail to impress! Also, as someone who's well educated in mental health due to my education and also personal experience I can totally understand your take on the randoms diagnosing you. I also find the assumptions on peoples personal health to not (always) be productive and I wish people would just spend that time focusing on their own mental health lol! Mental health is so unique to the individual that trying to even speculate is not worth it. I often compare mental health to gender, we have boxes to categrories aspects because humans have this intrinsic need to understand by putting things in boxes but there is far too many variables to really easily put anyone in these boxes. There is only ever need for a diagnosis if something is impacting your life in a negative way, repeated and constantly. That is when you see a doc and get the help. That help even under the same diagnosis looks different to everyone for the very aspect I mentioned above, multiple complicated variables. Anyway, end of my rant! I also just feel very passionate about this topic as a mental health advocate. Sending love Rabbit

Adhd/autism can present in so many different ways, so ultimately it comes down to whether or not you fit the DSM 5 criteria. I do wish more people understood that there are SO MANY mental health issues/kinds of neurodivergence with overlapping symptoms, and there is absolutely no way to diagnose someone over the internet. I feel like people often see queer/alt/different people and just assume that they might be neurodivergent as well, but people forget that there are other kinds of neurodivergence other than adhd and autism. You and your doctors are the only people who understand your brain, so don’t stress over people trying to diagnose you

I definitely relate to your end ramble about people thinking you're autistic or ADHD. People in my life have been shocked or confused when I tell them I don't have an autism diagnosis. It took a while, but they finally told me it's because of my sensitivity to light and sound + ~vibes~(???). Even then my sensitivity to light is just because I'm a shut-in lol, not even being neurodivergence. It's hella frustrating when people insist you're one thing when you either know or feel that you aren't especially with mental health. How your brain works is how it is and isn't anyone else's business

I'm hoping you've had a chance to watch it by now, but the dub of Princess Mononoke is phenomenal. I think Billy Crudup and Billy Bob Thornton provided much better versions of their characters than the original Japanese actors. Also, Neil Gaiman worked on the English script, and did a fantastic job of presenting Japanese mythology in a way that's easy for Western audiences to understand. Is it obvious that Mononoke is by far my favorite Ghibli movie?

I definitely understand your rant about random people wanting to diagnose you as its something ive struggled with as well. One thing i want to mention is that while a lot of diagnostic criteria focus on what you struggle with as an (talking about my experience as an) autistic person, in reality my autism isnt defined by what i struggle with. It just means i have a different brain than non-autistic people. It means my brain functions differently, which might make me struggle with some things neurotypicals dont, but it also makes other things easier than they might be for others. Every brain is different. So for me that helped to realise that my autistic friends werent saying "youre weird! You struggle with things!", but actually "i understand you, you understand me, are you like me?". Of course that doesnt make it okay and i dont mean to make excuses for people, just wanted to rant a bit about my experience and figured it could help you or others struggling with these feelings, whether theyre diagnosed, undiagnosed, or neurotypical. No brain is wrong, or better or worse than another. We're all just people living in the same world and trying to live our lives in ways that work for us. So excited for the shop, and these video blogs make me want to quit my job and do art full time as well even though i know i dont have the audience for it. Good luck with everything!!

(Also, I've always been good at school and work and getting things done, I'm also highly gifted (? Idk if that's the English term, but I mean when (parts of) your IQ is(/are) above 150). Being neurodivergent doesn't have to affect your intelligence or ability to do things, just like being neurotypical doesn't. We're all different people living on endless spectrums)

I would love to do a little pre-launch for those interested (maybe have like, a sign up email list, and I can send a link of the site before it goes live to the whole world) , because I really want subscribers to get the first pick - I’m looking into logistics of site launching this week/next, so hopefully will have an update about that soon! I think it would be great to have a pre-sale or pre-order or something , I just need to figure out logistics :D

I think people should stop being so quick to diagnose other people on the internet. You're not a doctor, and you don't know this person you're watching on KZbin, you're only seeing snippets of their life that they chose to show you. Even if you're right about your "diagnosis" no one really asked you for it, so just... chill out

i’d definitely recommend looking into autistic masking because the way you describe feeling like everyone sees something wrong with you that you don’t see reminds me of myself and i am a diagnosed autistic person! not saying your autistic, but you might relate to that aspect of the experience if you choose to look into it!

I'm so sorry people are making you uncomfortable, you don't deserve that. Speaking personally, from my own thoughts and from my experiences with friends, I think these people are very likely saying these things not because they're armchair diagnosing you, but because they're excited to see that part of themselves represented in someone else. Especially someone who's so joyful, who's doing so well, someone they probably look up to. It's really really nice to watch your videos and relate so heavily to the things you're saying. Even if it's not coming from neurodivergence, it's a breath of fresh air to know other people are out there, like me. Saying "you're so adhd!" might be someones shorthand, slightly socially inept (also a symptom of the spectrum) way of saying "I have adhd and you're doing things I do!!" Below I'm going to add some thoughts about my own experiences with ADHD and the diagnoses as a whole. Please do not feel obligated to read past this point! I'm not even sure technically if I've been "diagnosed" with ADHD. My father was diagnosed with it as a kid, and I'm pretty confident my mom has it, but she's not remotely interested in looking into it. A few years ago I was talking to my therapist how I felt like I just wasn't able to get my brain to work with me as much as I'd like it to just with the skills I'd developed, and while hesitant, they did support me inquiring with my GP about medication. My GP, who I had only been to once before due to moving, listened to my concerns and immediately wrote me a prescription for adderall. I cannot verify that my ADHD is like, on record, but I can say that medication has made quite a difference for me, and very much helped solidify my thought that I have it, despite early unsure-ness. After that though, I began to worry I was also Autistic, which I have several friends who have been diagnosed with both. I experienced a lot of the resistance I think you're feeling with confronting it. Looking back I do think it was some kind of ableism that was holding me back from considering it fully, and it took me some time to come to the realization that the way I was thinking about it wasn't.... the most helpful. Both ADHD and Autism are labels, which are applied to a wide range of people and symptoms and brains. The can be helpful for finding resources that best help your way of thinking-as you've already discovered-but they're just labels. They're not exact, they don't mean anything about the person, the symptoms, or the way the brain works. I eventually settled that I was probably not autistic, because a lot of resources for autism didn't speak to me, and the label didn't help me understand myself. From my experience with myself and friends (and two VERY ADHD bosses) I do think that the fact that you don't experience any sort of paralyses doesn't necessarily rule out ADHD- especially since you've identified that you experience a lot of anxiety. Anxiety is both co-morbid and caused by ADHD (like, knowing you're a certain way and not wanting to disappoint, so the anxiety of failing overcomes the the ADHD paralysis). My childhood GP said I couldn't have ADHD because I could sit down and finish puzzles in a single sitting, even though I would usually have at least one stream of media going at the same time (so I was actually focusing on at least two things at once) and even though hyperfixations and flow states exist, which are both things that ADHD people are prone to experiencing. I did have some trouble with procrastination, but I did very very well in grade school and very well in college. I consider my ADHD to be minor, or in older terms maybe a "high functioning" ADHDer. This is all to say that I wouldn't necessarily rule it out, but it's also just a label. Use it as far as it is useful to you, and don't use it any further than that!

Okay, I want to say I love your videos and am super excited for your shop to open and hope I can eventually but from you (currently struggling financially I unfortunately won't be able to support your launch, depending on when it happens). Anyways, about the topic of ADHD/Autism: so, I'm not going to diagnose you as that's not my place nor am I licensed to do so (shame on the people who have been, tsk tsk) I will say, however, that if you have both it can show up in different ways than someone who has one or the other. Plus, there are three different types of ADHD, and that's not talked about enough. I am in no way scolding you but the thoughts that you expressed here on the topic of feeling like someone is pointing out something wrong with you by saying you have these things is internalized ableism. It's also not their place to say whether you do or don't but I think it's worth asking a professional about if/when you're comfortable. They may not have said anything because they thought it was obvious or felt you weren't ready to discuss. The reason I'm telling you this is because I can relate. Not just on the "no I don't have these things" but also to the way it presented itself in me. Also, to the coworkers who use their mental health as an excuse to not do dishes...no...I know plenty of people who, are on the spectrum of ADHD or autism, that, once given this task by someone else either does the task or suggests something else they can contribute with. Usually doing the task. I have more to say but this is already an essay of a comment, so... Keep up the great work! I love watching your videos while I do arts/crafts myself!

on your discussion on people calling you neurodivergent: i'm sorry that people have called you that out of the blue and made you uncomfortable ,that sucks :( i have autism and adhd, and i do see myself in you, not in a bad way, and i don't mean to say definitively that you have either, but that we feel joy and love from things in similar ways. i feel a sort of parasocial kinship with you, you are kinda inspiring for me. and i get feeling like "i can't be this i don't struggle as much as them and i don't wanna co-opt that thing", i'm autistic but i don't have very visible struggles, my issues are not the same as all other autistic people. basically- sorry people upset you, if you do look into the possibility of you being neurodivergent remember that it's a spectrum and everyone has a different range of symptoms. also cool stuff, good luck with the shop!

also on your thing about sitting on the couch: procrastinating takes different forms for everyone, i can sometimes channel my adhd procrastinating into doing things that are productive but not the main thing. and i had good grades for a long time as someone with pretty bad adhd (worse when combined with my anxiety and depression), but eventually things got harder and i never learned how to do hard things cause it had been easy for me before and since my grades were good, no one thought to teach me how to do the hard things, study strategies and the like. i just keep doing things just in the nick of time, and i'm still learning. idk hope this helps

Yes and no about the ADHD at work thing. Yes sometimes its a bad idea for us to be in charge of like dishes if like we will hyper focus and not be able to help with customers becuses are brain will not register they are there. Normally its about explain the issue and finding a way to resolve it aka being like call my name becuses I might not notice or doing one task over the other. I had issue with dishes but was fine with working front so I just made food and swept or whatever and then only did dishs at night becuses there wasn't room for me to help front. (Still hated it becuses I don't like the feeling of my hands being wet). It's not an excuses but also being told your lazy or faking it is a thing you get a lot when you have adhd. They might need to learn how to abacate for themselves but if you want to spourt them find a middle ground so that tasks are like done?

Which movie/show were you watching at around 44:48 ? looked really interesting! Also tuna is absolutely adorable!! Also just wanna say, I recently got diagnosed with autism with parts of ADD, and I’ve been in a lot of denial but something I’ve noticed after the diagnosis is that the signs of them seriously shows up sooo differently depending on the person which has helped me understand and be more accepting of myself, but yeah! 🌸🦇

Repo! The Genetic Opera - it’s a wild ride highly reccomend with the caveat / reccomend watching of this video essay breaking down some of the issues with its creators etc kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6etoHejj92Zg9Esi=qaNIpEugBwtY-T7J . The movie has Anthony Stewart head (giles from buffy) Paris Hilton, ogre from skinny puppy, Alexa Vega from spy kids ….. truly a bizarre cast but fascinating watch, it’s a kind of terrible campy rock opera seared into my brain because I’ve seen it so many times. (I love it but also have many complicated feelings about it. I think they made a non-musical remake 2010 but I haven’t watched that)

i went to an ocd therapist for my ocd, he told me he thinks i am neurodivergent, based on the fact i dress 'eccentricly', prefer the company of my cats to people and believe in witchcraft. basically this society has everyone molded into a small minded clone, that if someones shows a shred of individuality they want to diagnose them with a disorder. i todl the therepist he was small minded and left. also he made my ocd worse, he was the worst

Also people might think your ADHD becuses you seem to show signs of time blindness (Unable to figure out how long a task takes), and excusive function as in prioritizing tasks (what is more important, what needs to be done first, finishing projects before starting new ones) and the classic of thing is at this time and not being able to start anything until that task is done. You might not have ADHD but you do seem to struggle with some of the same things they do (I do) and maybe mask some of the other things with is fine.

i'm kind of 'wierd' alternative etc, and small minded people assume anyone who isnt a clone is neurodivergent, there is no individuality these days so people assume if someone has a shred of individuality they must have something 'wrong with them' there is nothing wrong with being 'neurodivergent'. people are people, we shouldnt label people based on differences, we dont call non autisitic people 'neurotypical' we live in such a small minded society, that wants everyone to be a conformist clone.

best way to do a ruffle imo is to do a running stitch on the lowest tension possible (without backstitching) then you grab the end of the top thread and pull, this way you can adjust by hand how much you want it to ruffle :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fp-pgIWwlKp8hNk ITS WAY EASIER

That’s fair, I usually manage that with thinner fabric, but when it’s thicker I find it really hard to get an even ruffle without hand pinning all the ruffles :/maybe I’ll try again ! ❤️
