Hi Linda! I'm a retired RN from Middlebury Vermont living in New Haven. I just started watercolors a few years ago in my sixties and am exploring other types of art. I also suffer from severe osteoporosis after years of seizure meds from five brain surgeries from a pesky brain tumor that is long gone, thankfully. I rarely leave the house for fear of falling and breaking a bone. I am very active in my huge flower gardens but I have to use a walker. I'm happy to have found you and you seem awfully nice and I will love learning from you. I am happiest in my tiny office painting in my lap just like you do. Thanks for a great video! I look forward to more.

Hi and welcome!!! I’m so glad that you found my channel. How terrible about the seizure medicine but wonderful that the brain tumor is finally gone. So lovely that you have a a garden that you can time outside in. I very much enjoy my quiet time creating in my lap, although I often have to fight for lap space with my little dogs lol. There will be a new video out tomorrow, Saturday, at 5 AM Eastern time.

I have been following this series for over a year, first knowing Linda for her art posts on FB. I have also had health challenges, from recovery from addiction in my twenties to cancer in 2019. Fortunately, despite a scare a few months ago, and getting Covid in October after a trip, I am relatively well now, I don't have the cancer active any more. I draw or paint or do pastels every day, and I just told Linda that my bed is my "art nest". Half of it holds art books, art sketchbooks, pens and paper to draw on, markers and a little watercolor set. The rest of my bedroom holds a desk and an easel, some art supplies like paints and pastels, a cart with three shelves that I got at Michael's for $30 that also doubles as holding my glass pallette! It's clear to me that you don't need a lot of space to do art, you just have to have what you need. I would need a bigger space to paint larger, so for now I work more in the smaller (5"x7", 6"x6", 8"x8") to medium size forme 9"x12", maybe up to 14". I am inspired by other artists, and feel Linda is showing a lot of courage and vulnerability opening her life up to public view. My birth name is Susan Daily, the V is my nom de plume Visionweaver. Nice to meet you all in this cyber art space.

Cut a piece of stiff paper to cover the bottom and use the cutouts to tape it down to the bottom to keep it stable. Hope this helps you. I really like using the cool cases my products come in. I love watching your sketchbook flip through, it’s always a fun learning experience. Glad you were feeling better and able to create this video. Your 🌺 flowers 🌺 in the windows are beautiful. So good to see you again! I'll admit I've been a little worried and wondering if things were okay. It's amazing how much brighter my day is when I get to see one of your videos. You were playing with one of my favorite mediums in this video. I use it all the time in my journal. I have the kwik sticks 30 pack that includes the muted earth tones and the skin color set. I love them! If you layer them they will write over black and block it out for the most part. You just have to wait for it to dry or layer white then the coloring over it. Neocolor 2's work really well over them too. Now I really want to get out my supplies and paint!

Hi Linda! I have the KingArt and the Shuttle art sticks and they're wonderful. I can't have an art nest but I'm trying to convince my Mom to put some of my art stuff in a back pack. It's nice to see you again! How are you and your husband doing? The last time I saw you was a few videos ago. I'm chronically ill and bedbound and I've been an artist for 52 years and I just love it. I'm going through the process of finding a nursing home for my Mom and I and it's depressing. My Mom had a fall and fractured her spine and now she's wearing a brace for 2 months. She's lucky she's not paralyzed. I see life as a gift and I wake everyday and am grateful to be gifted enough to be an artist. I love collage and have discovered Froyle Art on KZbin and Sandi Hester, Natasha Newton too. Excellent drawings by the way. I love intuitive art. Take care for you and your husband!

So good to see you're having fun while feeling low. I don't remember if I've seen you using the stabilo woodies, those are fun too and would be great in you're art nest. I'm still crocheting when I'm not feeling up to making art. And if I'm making art it's mostly mark making. It's fun and I just like to get colour on paper. Brain fog wasn't that apparent, at least for me. Maybe because it's so familiar. I just remembered my daughter has similar tempera sticks, some inexpensive brand that look like you're king art ones, she loves them, but she turns them up way too much and then they won't go back down. so frustrating when you're six years old 😂 I'll ask if I can borrow them some time. Thanks for this colourful video Linda, I wish you a wonderful thanksgiving weekend. We don't celebrate it, but we're knee deep in Sinterklaas. Our version of Santa. So enough going on 😊 big hugs and I patiently can't wait to see what you create next. 🥰

@BeginnersMind-ArtMind2 жыл бұрын
So sorry about the loss of your Mom. You body probably needs the rest to heal from your grief. The KingArt gel sticks are better at blending because they stay wet longer and they’re also water blendable. I agree that the quick sticks dries so fast that they’re hard to blend. I have gotten them to blend a little bit with water but the king art ones are definitely easier to blend.

Hi! Recently found your channel and so thankful for the content. My go-to art at the moment is encaustic, and I've been thinking of trying a gelli plate to create collage papers that I can use with the wax. Acrylic paint and encasutic aren't good companions, and a lot of people use pigment sticks but they are so expensive! So I'm wondering how these sticks would work on a gelli plate - would they stay "wet" long enough and would they clean off the plate relatively easily?
@BeginnersMind-ArtMind Жыл бұрын
Hi Virginia, welcome to the channel I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos. I don’t know how the tempera sticks would work on a gelli plate. Just be sure you read the product description well on the brand that you purchase because some of them dry immediately and some of them never completely dry so you definitely wouldn’t want the Quick drying sticks. I have also heard people mention gouache sticks. I’ve never tried those either but they may work as well. Have fun experimenting!

Hi Minna, usually when someone leaves a comment like this I find that they haven’t read the description of what this channel is about. I will post my channel description below so that you don’t have to go searching for it. If you are looking for a channel that gives free weekly lessons or demos this probably is not the right channel for you. I could certainly recommend some to you that offer high-quality demos but most of the ones I personally watch are more focused on artists sharing their personal experience and process not just demonstrating painting. I think reading the description below will help you to understand more about the purpose of this channel. Lots of sharing and talking here. Thanks for stopping by to check out our amazing community. “Join me as I navigate the ups & downs of chronic illness & other life challenges through my daily creative practice. I openly share with sincerity & honesty about my own struggles, bringing my viewers along as I discover new ways to keep my creative practice alive even during my darkest & most uninspired days. This is not a channel where I tell you exactly what art materials to use or teach you step by step the "correct" way to make art. Instead I hope to instill in my viewers their own intuitive, expressive, art practice utilizing the principles of “Beginners mind”, "Non Judgement", "Self Acceptance" & most importantly, "Self Love". My videos are created for everyone that loves art, but especially for people like myself that are facing life challenges due to health issues, disability, trauma, grief or other difficulties that make life hard to navigate.
