Cat -- as a long time viewer, I have always appreciated you being honest and transparent about your struggles. I think it's so smart that you diversified your income streams, from Patreon to KZbin and Etsy. I also think it would be cool to see more everyday use products in the future! Maybe having themed water bottles or medicine/pill boxes? Or things that aren't as luxurious as a mousepad or tote bag. Or even just Katnipp notebooks and journals? Also, I feel like you'd be successful in making a third channel! Maybe dedicating it to Food (very lucrative on YT lol) since you travel quite often and try interesting foods, I think you'd do well! And it could also reach gastic bypass/diet viewers as well.

Had a thought when you took your shoes off, Have you ever considered making plushy slippers of your characters? Like you could keep a pair of bun bun slippers in the studio for when you need to get cozy. Maybe Gingie ones for the holidays. I realized as I'm suggesting this that would require getting a lot of different sized slippers Which would be too price inhibited to start, but maybe run it as a kickstarter or preorder campaign.II didn't know if you had ever thought of something like that or if The current manufacturers you work with had that available. Hard not to compare to others. I do it all the time as I'm an artist vendor at markets. I do have a website and Etsy store, but most of my sales are face to face and most of my Etsy store sales are from people who have seen my products in person. So it is a struggle and this time of year is low season for me, so thinking about diversity and perhaps doing physical workshops. But as I'm getting ready for a big event in Aug. that I have never done before, my focus is there right now. I have to learn that there are adjustments that can be made and my business is doing better than it did when I started 2 years ago... again...that comparison thing pops up again! Thanks for being honest and love watching your business and personal channels!

❤ your vlogs are the best because of your lovely personality - so upbeat, creative and real - sure everyone is feeling the lull especially when we were all sailing during covid lockdowns where people were online and using our skills for their needs but it’s only a down period now and we need to be creative to ride it out. So glad you said about the struggles owning a business, I have an Etsy shop but nothing compared to yours, I also work part time and my Husband works full time so we are lucky as I know when it is slow on Etsy we have some income to fall back on. But some are not so lucky and I see that in some of the facebook groups. I also do not like the way some of the people on KZbin say how easy it is to make lots of money and to copy other people's products that are doing well, more often they do not have an Etsy shop or if they do its not like yours all they want is a get rich scheme offering people help that is no good. That is why I like watching you as you are totally upfront about everything and down to earth. I am also 61 and enjoy watching your videos and talks. x

I have also been simplifying my designs, for branding and advertising, specifically. I'm a digital painter and I used to think that I had to make my branding look like my paintings but I realized that as a modern artist, you have to build a brand around your work! I wanted to say, I have a tumbler press like you (different brand, but exactly the same style) and I actually found it didn't press mugs well because it couldn't get around it enough, so I ended up getting a dedicated mug press for mugs and just use this for tumblers. No matter how I tried I couldn't get a good press around the handle area so I had to have my designs back really far from the handles to press correctly on it.

You can't overcome the pressure issue. They only ever press to a medium pressure regardless of how thick the object is or what material it is. That's why adding cushioning won't work - it's still just going to auto-press it to medium. The only thing you can change is the other two variables - time and temperature. You could try maybe lower temp for longer or just higher temp or just longer time, maybe. When they were crowdfunding, I suggested they make the pressure adjustable too, but they weren't really crowdfunding - they were just pre-selling (by which I mean everything was already made and designed and manufacturing was underway. They didn't actually need backing to get it made. They just did kickstarter for marketing). Which is fine, loads of companies do it. But I thought they were very shady about the pressure issue - they kept dodging people's questions until they finally admitted that it just hits a preset psi and cannot be recalibrated. If you need firm pressure for, like, wood or something, it's def not the machine for you. That said, it is very nicely designed and user friendly.

yes this! I actually cancelled my pre order and had to do a paypal claim to get refunded after watching several other youtube reviews. The pressure seemed to be the only issue most people had, and with doing screen prints, heavy pressure is a must!

Oooh, interesting to note about the heat press. I may have gone and splurged on one (after angst-ridden discussions with the hubby, who told me to go for it) after you mentioned them. Unfortunately, they ran out of stock so I have to wait until next month. I love those long mouse mats, but I don’t have a dedicated desk yet, sob. How about doing pre-orders for them though for future releases? Oh, and I keep looking out for the Spring releases - CANNOT wait. Is that coming soon? The fish smell is actually the silicone that goes around the mug heating unit and after about 50 presses it will dissipate. I had this same thing when I got my mug press and I was just like "WHAT IS THAT SMELL????" lol.
