In Titanic too Juxtaposition is used briefly. As ship starts to sink and there's chaos everywhere ( of people getting into lifeboats to save their own lives ), a group of violinists gather to play their music in passion without thinking about their lives. That scene shows chaos but also lets audience embrace that tone of loss and grief. Truly James is a wonderful director.

Like my old teacher used to say to students that got stuck during writing or editing: "Meaning arises from contrast. If you can't find the contrast, add a new element to your story. If the contrast is there, look for ways to sharpen the distinction even further."

I noticed that Lord of the Rings uses a lot of slow motion / frame stepping (stop motion) to highlight dramatic moments. It definitely feels "old fashioned" watching it back recently. Would be interesting to also talk about the history and prevalence of its usage.

Another great example of Juxtaposition can be found in True Detective, season 1, in the scene when Rust and Marty found the kids: The viewer hears what they say to the internal investigators about the circumstances of their rescue, while sees, what really had happend there

In kill Bill, California mountain snake whistles a pleasant, moody and quite funky tune while getting ready to assassinate The bride. The scene immediately sets how much she cares for someone else's life and how comfortable she is in killing someone. Also, the Siren from kill Bill is also used time to time juxtaposed against the soundtrack that sets the mood of the scene... Indicating that the scene is about to explode coz the bride is there. Edit: I swear I wrote this comment before the juxtaposition in the editing part ... Didn't expect the movie to be mentioned afterwards

The editorial juxtaposition that really impacted me recently is in the overlooked "The Devils" directed by Ken Russell (unrealesed director cut version). The sadly cut scene of the "rape" of Christ intercut with Grandier's communion is a shining example of powerful cinema, where the meaning of images beats a thousand words. People should be talking about this film a LOT more.
