The Last of Us is an example of how the production was so accurate because the game itself was amazing and they added a little bit more of a flair with the aesthetics!! It has a Walking Dead vibe to it and I hope the show keeps running to wherever the games stop at!!

The Last of Us tv show is a perfect example of how to adapt a video game right. This is something that the Resident Evil Netflix series lacked, care and passion for the source material. From the cinematography's point of view, it's stunning. And it doesn't feel cheap too.

Great analysis. My problem with the show was that the CGI was really glaring in several shots/scenes :( I think they could have put a bit more effort in those, especially episode 1, as the pilot sets the tone. I feel they've spent most of their budget on Pedro Pascal (which I don't find the perfect casting) and shilling magazines for positive reviews and continuous exposure. Mags like Gamespot have trodden the spam threshold reposting the same articles over and over, trying to convince how "episode 3 is the best episode in television" (🙄)
@chocotoasties2671 Жыл бұрын
To be fair, Naughty Dog games are playable films, so adapting the game to live-action isn't as difficult as other adaptations. That being said, the translation process is cool to look at and learn about how to approach the same concept in a different way

I'm still torn about the naturalistic approach; on one hand it helps ground the show and make the setting more relatable, on the other hand this very relatability makes the atmosphere too relatable to be engaging, most of the time
@StudioBinder Жыл бұрын
Do you mean the relatability makes it boring?
@romeo1771 Жыл бұрын
@@StudioBinder I guess? It was just too familiar for me to find it interesting enough. Like, that was probably how it would actually feel like to be in such setting. I feel like such works benefit from harsher shadows, more muted colors and more prominent soundscape to achieve a more engaging atmosphere However, I'm torn because I can't deny that their approach is still unique and interesting. Like, a "boring apocalypses" where everything looks and feels like our mundane daily lives? I'll watch that

The Last of Us is the first good game adaptation because the game was already structured as a visual narrative with finely crafted characters and set pieces. That is why it works as a series. You can't do anything with the likes of Doom. There is no narrative substance in Doom. Or why something like Resident Evil has failed so many times as movies or series. Have you played the games? They make no sense when it comes to narrative or characters.

THE IRONY when it actually worked, it still turned out to be completely unnecessary to the source material being a better version. In other words, there was no need to make the tv show at all - complete waste of time as it added nothing and therefore, diluted something, making it less than it was.
