Thank you StudioBinder for opening my eyes to the true art of film. I like movies, but your videos are changing my complete perception of the deep art, thought and work that goes into a production. I have been doing live filming of events for numerous years and always wondered what was wrong with my edits. They were Ok, but I knew something was wrong....I now have a tiny inclinking of what. All I can say is wow, and thanks.

Nice! I would also suggest grabbing the worksheets. What did you think of the series?
@SkippyGustilo6 жыл бұрын
StudioBinder i think the series is actually really helpful. Like its stuff you already know, but it gives such a brief yet concise context on the important Details. Plus to add other information that I didn’t know as well. Which really helps spark the creativity! Thanks for this series. On episode 5 now while reading and writing down notes. Its just so good to learn all this online. 🙏

anything design and art related is a good start. graphic design, industrial design, art, architecture etc are all pretty good. you want to build a high skill set in presenting design and using professional software. with this you will have to start with smaller jobs and build up your portfolio to eventually work your way up 👍🏻

VFS was pretty decent, I got a good education in Production Design though I would recommend doing an AUTOCAD course 1st before enrolling or taking an Interior Design course or degree. Then I would pretty much hit up the best schools LA Film School or anything in the UK is much better. Keep in mind when you get into the business the real business you are going to have to prove yourself and work hard, typically as a set designer or drafter 1st before a major studio hires you on as the production designer because anyone can really be a production designer at the end of the day. Proven by Luc Bason's fifth element. The helpful duo were comic book creators. It is an "Above the line position". Plus you will want to ensure you can earn a living outside the industry when business is slow so an Interior Design Degree will help a ton.

In my understanding, production designer is the decision maker. The person who sets the tone of how things will be done. The art director makes sure those things get done.
