Ive been casting a short in Dallas last 3 weeks. It has been challengimg. Im a student filmmaker and no budget. All i can offer is food on set, screen credit and piece for a reel. Most folks dont want it if no money. And the few actors i do have, i gotta schedule shooting days around their schedules and locations.It almost makes me wanna quit this business.

We didn't have a table read but it's good to see that we conformed to all the other tips in the video when casting the feature film you can watch on our channel and the one currently in production! DEFINITELY record your auditions! I'd completely forgotten how good one lady was on the day and without looking back at them all I would probably have missed out on picking someone who made the character so much better than originally envisioned in the script.... Good to see you chose a couple from self-tapes that ended up at the table read. I'm always wary of them because if someone can't make the effort to get to auditions will they go out of their way for the actual shoot?
@StudioBinder5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your sharing your experience! Your last point is a very valid concern; that's why it's really important to be just as vigilant when watching the self-tapes as you were in the in-person auditions.

I am loving this journey thus far. It's getting me all revved up and inspired for my upcoming project. I would love to be part of the second season for I have this film script I have always wanted to see the light of day but it has been an uphill task...but unfortunately I am nowhere near LA or the U.S😔. Hopefully one day in the future you'll welcome submissions from international indie filmmakers 💯✊. Dreams are still valid

I didn't see the whole audition obviously but the guy in 4:55 seemed like a great choice for Tim. He would be great as this kinky, kind of nerdy character similar to Scott Pilgrim. But I haven't seen the short yet so I don't know what was your intention. Where can I watch it anyway?

I don't get it why do they make a table read, where actors are sitting at the table, half-acting, without body language. Why not to make a real rehearsal instead?
@srinivassridhar51515 жыл бұрын
there will be a rehearsal after the table read, table read is for the cast and the director to know each other and understand the script in and out. You just can't hire a bunch of actors and start the rehearsal immediately..
@ommm85 жыл бұрын
Very interesting but badly flawed in that many of the aspects of the film weren't reflective of a real filmmaking journey. The DOP already worked on staff FOR Studiobinder ! They used office space for the table read for free because they owned the office. They got the location because the owners were told it was going to be on a youtube documentary and they could get free publicity for their business. None of these things would happen for most filmmakers, so the reality of the struggle to get it made is lost. Nevertheless it's quite watchable and informative : )
