Excellent. You are the only person I've watched on KZbin who talks about low frequency sound issues. You even compared Whisper Room to Studio Bricks. Very informative video. Good job. I sincerely mean that. Thank you!

Tanner, I so appreciate you taking the time to create and share this review. it was so helpful to me. I can not change the physical space my studio is in as it is a rental, and the bedroom I am using in our townhouse as a studio overlooks a busy road. The low-frequency comments you made were so helpful as motorbikes like Harleys and Trucks etc. are difficult to combat. I particularly like the Studio Bricks booths for their aesthetics and workmanship. So again many thanks.

Thank you for the no nonsense review. I live 20 miles from WhisperRoom and ordering from Spain seems extravagant but you helped me follow my gut and desire to not work 40 hours a week in and near a fuzzy box.

Ha! Loved this comment Wendy. Thank you. The color selection from Studio Bricks is wonderful, almost any color you can think of! I opted for plain white but, if I had it to do over, I might have done something yellow. Good luck! Send a photo when you've got it set up!

Thank you, a nice honest review. I spent days looking at Whisper Rooms and Studio Bricks Booths. I finally ordered a Studio Bricks One XXL. Now I wait 6 weeks. I agree with Wendy Bird about the big fuzzy box, Studio Bricks looks great.

An awesome review! To the point and you kept my interest: traits of a good VO! I'm moving out of state and having decided on Studio Bricks, was wondering when to order and what to really expect. I think I will definitely hire someone to put it together (no way can I do that!!). Thanks for the great info!

Nice review. I think the main thing that Whisper Room has going for it for us in North America is that at least in my local area, there are at least a few of them available at significantly reduced used prices. I'm just getting into voice over so even a used whisper room is unrealistic for me but I am picking up a used audiometric booth tomorrow for $300 and I'll spend some time and money acoustically treating it. Won't be as good as a studio bricks or whisper room but it's a cheap way to start.

Great video. Did you need to do any additional acoustic treatment or have someone professionally tune it? I'd heard they were getting better but not sure if you still need to invest in bass traps, more foam etc., like you do with a Whisper Room.

I live in a studio apartment with a small dog (she barks a bit). I work really often in VO and audiobooks and I'm really want something that will work for my space. I love studiobricks and looked at whisper room as well but am wondering about the weight of studio bricks in an apartment and whether you'd recommend studiobricks for dog barks (obviously it won't block the barking completely, but with it being double walled maybe?). Any thoughts or recommendations?
@tannerhelps
@tannerhelps 2 жыл бұрын
It's not so heavy it will fall through a floor. If so it would have fallen into my basement long ago. But it is heavy, each brick probably weight 20lbs so it's many hundreds of pounds. The door alone is 300lbs. When you buy, you'll want to buy assembly with it -- especially if you're by yourself. All Studiobricks are double walled (unless you upgrade to triple), I have a double and when my dog barks, yes, I do have to retake the line. The triple would be better, but I can't say for sure it would save you from having to retake a line.

i live near a a major road. Cars make noise non stop and ruin my recordings. Do you think a Whisper room or studio brick will help ?
@tannerhelps
@tannerhelps Жыл бұрын
Depends on if that road noise is very low frequency and how close you are to it. Low frequency waves are long, and they penetrate walls. Give me more information.
@emmanuelsanchez4321
@emmanuelsanchez4321 Жыл бұрын
@@tannerhelpsHI, I dont know what you mean by low frequency, but my apartment is on the 5th floor. Theres a parking lot between my building and the road, so there's a good amount of space between. The cars a loud. Recording in my closet helps, but it's not enough to block out the noise completly without me denoising the background after recording. Considering investing in a Whisper Room or this Studio Brick, but don't want to waste a couple grand for it not to work.

@@emmanuelsanchez4321 5th floor, parking lot noise, you should be fine. Just don’t put it near and open window. Low frequency means low sounds… bass… 200hz and lower.

Hi Tanner thanks for the review! I’m looking to buy one of these for saxophone and woodwind practising. How do you find the ventilation after being in it for a while? I’m concerned it’s going to get very hot and stuffy in there! Thanks!
@tannerhelps
@tannerhelps 2 жыл бұрын
Ventilation is great. If you're playing a sax, you can likely have it pushed to max and not worry about hearing it in the recording. Some gentle de-noising should deal with anything that might make it in.

Funny how everyone who has reviewed this booth says shipping is a nightmare.
@tannerhelps

I mean, to be fair to Studiobricks, they're coming from Spain and for anyone who hasn't experienced shipping large custom items from overseas, it can be tough meeting their expectations. International logistics present multiple points at which things can go wrong, and this is especially true at two points in particular: 1. Customs. Customs doesn't give an eff what you want as far as "I paid for this, where is my package" they can hold it for as long as they want and you'll just shut up and wait because it's Customs. 2. Delivery from freight companies is just a pain in the ass. They aren't domestic UPS drivers and they don't face the same pressures to satisfy residential customers because their customers aren't us... their customers are the manufacture that chose them for shipping. So when you analyze whether or not (in this case) XPO is meeting its contractual obligation with Stuidobricks, it's not "was the package delivered on time?" it's more "was the package delivered and not damaged because we're not sending a birthday card here and people should be happy they got it and not complain about a 1 week delay like a bunch of spoiled brats." So, yes, the shipping is a bit of a nightmare, but... you know... given that it's international and involves 3 separate logistics companies along the way, I think it's a pretty fair experience.
