Peter, you look fantastic! You look fit and healthy, your skin has seen some sun but not too much, and you look relaxed. I think some stress has left your face. How wonderful! I'm glad you got to go on such an awesome trip.

Hello Peter, you don't know me, and I only know you through your videos. But I am compelled to express my appreciation for you. Today, I almost drowned in my deep sorrow of depression, and I couldn't feel hope. In an attempt to distract myself, I chose to watch something, anything on you tube. As one of my few subscriptions, you came up, and I clicked, I listened, I watched...I actually smiled. I want you to realize that your voice, your thoughts, your art saved my life today.

Peter, I have lived in Italy for 16 years, and you visited the perfect place for an artist from abroad. Your comments were spot on, about the people hanging out at night, and you captured the life and surroundings of the real Italy. When we studied history in World History class in high school, it was difficult to connect with the reality. Now you have seen it and you will be enticed to learn more. And there is so much more. I am glad you visited Ravenna as the mosaics there are beautiful, and the reason Ravena was important at the time explains it. You sure got around, Siena, in history, was also important. One month, you saw a lot. Come back for more. Venezia, and the Giotto paintings in Scrovigni Chapel in Padova, then go into the volcanic hills in Arqua to visit the small village of Petrarc, where wine is awesome. Rent a car and take it all in. Ciao!

Peter, those drain pipe "mufflers" are U traps. It keeps the smell from the sewer from rising out of the top of the pipe. Water sits in the U to make a air seal.

Stops the stink from rising up the pipes by that curve. Same in your sink in the kitchen, etc.

I so relate to your comment about the cathedral...it was years and years of someone else's work why does it have to be hours and hours of mine?! I feel that way alot. I get overwhelmed but really love architecture. So I draw small pieces like doorways, or drain pipes!!! Good to see you back!!! 💖

Peter, so glad you got to spend a month studying in Florence, an absolutely gorgeous city, and visited Siena, and all the things! I'm half italian and have been lucky enough to visit Italy and have visited Florence and the surrounding areas several times. Looking forward to seeing how it influences your work.

Architecture student from Florence here (my university os very close to Piazza Ciompi actually). It's so cool watching you talk about the city I've been living in for the last few years! I just realized how many things and details I now take for granted and don't notice anymore. Watching your sketchbooks was like reliving the city for the first time again simply an irreplaceable experience, and it was so fun trying to guess the monument before you talked about it! As always, love your drawings. Love from Florence, ❤

Peter, thank you for sharing your adventures! It's very inspirational. I recently moved to northern Spain and started sketching from life, very challenging especially architecture. Concerning lifestyle - in Spain people also stay late, especially on the south, where it's hot, they take big lunch break (even stores), about for 2 hours, and go to bed after midnight. Love your sketches!

Hullo Peter, A real quick comment. I was watching a video over on Sarah Burns Studio's channel and she was doing a tree and after she put down her paint she was unhappy with the texture, so she went right back over her paint! You expressed some unhappiness with your tree in this video and I just wanted to relay this idea and possible solution to your troubles with the tree! She used pen and pencil! Good Luck Sir!

Hullo Peter, I enjoyed seeing your work from your trip! Portraits are the supreme test of skills, especially done live! Having a subject that is easy going can be a tremendous confidence boost too! Finding a likeness is very difficult too, as most people only see themselves in a mirror! Including ourselves. Thanks for sharing Peter this is a wonderful video. Am I the only one shipping you with Alex? .... anyways, I really liked your more experimental and loose pieces. You encouraged me to worry less about my drawings being "good" or "perfect" or accurate to the subject. There is more life in the freer versions. Nice seeing the different approaches side by side. I get discouraged too easily, thinking my skills are still way too lacking (I guess a better way to see it is that there is still so much to discover and learn). I live in Europe, but it is not necessarily quite as omnipresent with the sitting outside and talking all evening long where I have lived so far (still a thing tho). Makes me nostalgic for the times I have done that. Italy is kind of special in that, I guess. I have heard it is very uncommon in North America to do that. I hope you'll have better urban planning in the future, so you can enjoy this way of life more. Edit: When I stayed in Indonesia for six months, life took place on the streets on a way different level. I miss that so much, it was so lively.

The pipes have the s-curve so that the smells from whatever is in the water won’t make it’s way back up and out the top. Same as the trap in your toilet, I think. A plumber could probably give a better answer. 🤷♀️
