when you think about it, Moriarty really did burn the heart out of him, didn't he? It wasn't the fall that killed Sherlock, it was indeed the landing. Coming back to find John had moved on, having to act like it was okay that he was with Mary, that it wasn't killing him inside. Then when he was just starting to accept it, to be not good, but okay, when he was making it work, to have it all ripped out from under him again. But he didn't win, in the end. I still believe he didn't, after all these years. I do believe they were able to be happy in the end. That's why I don't actually think I want a S5 or a movie. Because they left it open ended, to end it how WE want it to end, or for it to never end, really.

It's all about how you interpret the ending of the last episode really, because you could choose to see it as a confirmation that they got together in the end, also with the mary voiceover that says "whatever you two are"... and it's all clips of them living together and sherlock holding Rosie❤

I agree with you. I can't think of anyone who can love John as much as Sherlock does, but in S4 you can clearly notice the coldness, the distance between them. Their interaction is no longer like S1 or S2, when they could easily humiliate one another in a good way. However, the ending of S4 leaves us with the hope of slowly bridging the gap. We can expect that they will be able to mend the broken pieces of their relationship that was once adored so much by both of them (just like fixing their home at 221B).
