Study On Receding Gums Treatment Underway

Dr. Othman Shibly, a clinical professor at the Periodontics Department at the School of Dental Medicine, University at Buffalo makes a return appearance on the "AM Buffalo" TV show in Buffalo NY to discuss a study now underway on treatments for receding gums.
The periodontics Department at the school of dental medicine is conducting this research project to compare two surgical techniques to increase the gum levels in patients suffering from receding gums.
The purpose of this proposed study is to compare a standard of care technique (Connective Tissue Graft) that is used to increase the amount of gum around the teeth and cover exposed tooth/root surfaces to a minimally invasive technique (Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique®).
The main benefit is to identify which of the two techniques is more successful while identifying the technique that carries the least post-surgical discomfort and best healing for the patients receiving such treatments.
