I was diagnosed with essential tremor when I was 18! My older sister noticed me shaking when I was trying to eat soup when I was 16 or 17 and I couldn't hold the spoon without shaking and it tipping all over me. I'm 22 now. She would laugh but she was also concerned so made me visit a doctor. I had so many blood tests for thyroid (as my mum has thyroid problems) but everything was clear. Nothing runs in the family. Eventually I went to hospital and went to the neurophysiology section where they look at the nerves. I couldn't draw swirls properly and I also had to do a point to point thing! It's such a daily struggle, although I have medication for it, it doesn't always work! I also have a job as a chef, my dream job, which makes things difficult as I can't hold a knife properly and end up nearly chopping a finger off, or trying to serve food and spilling it everywhere! It's getting worse and affects my balance a lot as well. I wish there was a proper cure. :(

I am 27 and have essential tremors throughout my body. I was looking into this surgery and then i found out that it wouldn't work for me because i had a brain tumor removed; which is what started me having tremors.

I'm fairly positive it affects all the tremors, because the short circuit is in the thalamus, which is responsible for the tremors

You must accept yours position. Dont despair! Just give lectures and ignore tremor. There are by far more difficult conditions than tremor. I have watched yours videos and by camera shake i would say that yours tremor is not severe. You can try to see is some type of diet calming ET down, but I would not recommend any medication as it would give you more negative effects than giving tremor management.

@@Withchongloi I have ET from age 6 - I dont remember how does it feel without it. Anyhow, anxiety (unrelated fears) is something that goes along ET and you must treat it. That is by far more serious thing to treat than ET. Visit some school or clinical psychologist or hemotherapist (if you live in poverty or in very rural area, an monk as a spiritual guardian/consultant is better than nothing) just to have an mental hygiene treatment which will ensure that you dont develop some more serious disorder. You must be socially active - at least to have some inner circle. An active love relationship is very desirable...

I got ET at age of 6 and it got more aggressive as years passed by. I thought that I will for sure be in wheelchair when I get to elder age. As time went by at age of 35 tremor started to go away and my friends tell me that now (at age 40) is hardly noticeable. My advice is not to give up. This is still very experimental and is far from being reliable treatment, but it gives hope that in future we would have working therapy available. Stay strong and have my regards.

@Miodragy2 жыл бұрын
@@chetanrs, I don't know for sure, but at one point I have started to visit natural springs and have brief bath at least once a week. Because of temperature of these springs (23.5C), I have got used to colder water in everyday showering. So from that time and still I only use cold water for bathing. Tremor didn't go away, but it is reduced. That is only lifestyle change that I did, but I cant tell for sure is it related with my ET, because ET reduction came gradually. Regards.
