Hi! I passed exam P and I’m currently studying for FM. I was wondering if you can make a video on choosing between SOA or CAS. It seems that the CAS route involves more stats which is something I’m more interested in over subjects like fm, although I’m not entirely sure. Please lmk! Thanks for the great videos, and good luck on your actuarial journey!!

Thank you so much! That's actually one of the ideas I had for my next video, so I'll be sure to try and post a video about SOA vs. CAS soon :) You can check out a LinkedIn post I just made about this here: www.linkedin.com/posts/isabellathiel_actuary-actuarialscience-actuarial-activity-7173718167892946944-HXjP?. Good luck with FM!

Hi Bella! I've been binge watching actuarial science videos trying to figure out what it's like to study to become an actuary. I'm a college freshman still trying to figure things out, and I was thinking that some sort of day in the life video of an actuarial science student might be really helpful for someone like me! My school unfortunately doesn't have a specific actuarial science major, so I'm planning to complete an applied math degree while studying for the SOA exams and finding actuarial internships. Would you consider making a video about how completing your actuarial science degree has been like for you so far? It'd also be really awesome if you could talk a bit about how it might differ from majoring in mathematics or finance as an aspiring actuary.

Hi Cindy! That’s a GREAT idea - I’ll try and make a video talking about this within the next month or two. Best of luck with your degree and exams! 😃

Hi i am right now in 11th and i am interested in being an actuarial. I am from india and i really want you to make a video on difference between IAI and IFOA.
@Bella-the-Actuary6 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you so much for watching 🙂 Because I am in the US, I don’t know much about the IAI and IFOA. Perhaps you could try reaching out to a professor/teacher/actuary in India!

Hi ! I'm an actuarial student from Taiwan, wanna know is there any difference between MAS and FAM. Do you recommend to buy Coaching Actuaries after I passed first 2 exams(P&FM), Thank You!
@Bella-the-Actuary8 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching 🙂I'd recommend looking at the exam manuals for MAS-1 and FAM to see the differences between the exam content. Personally, I find Coaching Actuaries to be helpful for studying, but there are many other resources out there you can use!

I'm also doing my first year in Actuarial science and I will like to ask about one of my modules which is economics. Will I be doing it for only this year or will continue on the rest of the remaining years left ? I'm curious 😔.
@Bella-the-Actuary8 ай бұрын
Hi! I think it depends on which school you go to. Some schools require multiple economics classes and others only require one or two. I'd recommend talking with an advisor at your school!

Hi how can I start to prepare the first exams, are there free websites?
@Bella-the-Actuary7 күн бұрын
Hi! You can start by searching online for exam syllabi. For example, if you decide to start with exam P, you could google “exam P syllabus.” A document by the SOA will come up, and you can check out the resources section to see which textbooks the learning objectives come from. Some of those textbooks may be free! But personally, I’ve always used a paid study manual to study for my exams, like Coaching Actuaries. Another way to study for an exam is to take an actuarial-specific class in college! They’ll teach you about the concepts you need to know for exams. Hope this helps!
