I don’t believe in motivation. It’s volatile. It is my firm belief that if you want to change the world, you have to be truly driven to do it. You have to want it so bad, that even when you don’t feel like working at it, you’ll do it anyway. I believe in building habits--positive habits that, when persistently worked at, build towards your goals until you eventually reach them. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I had been in the darkest place I’d ever been. My mother had just left for Vietnam a month prior and was going to stay there for two more. I was alone. I began to struggle in school. I started losing sleep and wondering what I’d do with myself. While in that dark place, I found my flame. It was exacerbated by the desire to help those who were also lost and broken. Thinking about how I could help those who were stuck at home as well, I realized that I could share my drive online. I would lead by example by showing others just how much one person can accomplish when they are truly driven to do it. I tested my resolve and started producing online content where I’d study every day for 12 hours. It was a big risk. I’d have to invest a lot of money and time into something unprecedented. I was ready, however, and started on March 20, 2020. It’s now March 20, 2021. After over 300 live streams, I studied 2,880 hours and my flame is stronger than the day I started. I built a following of hard workers whose flame was ignited by mine.

All the other studies with me have people in nice clothes (and it's nice and all), but sometimes you just wanna channel your inner "messy" so I can definitely relate myself to this guy and push myself to work harder to reach his level of focus.

I once had an assignment with a 4-week deadline. I procrastinated and did 0 work/studies until the last day. That 1 day I worked intensely for 20 hours straight. The insane productivity in those hours is equivalent to 100 hours of normal day-to-day studies for me. If I somehow managed to study like that on an average.. I would learn so much

Same. But with covid I've been slacking med school. Ngl I may or may not have found a way to cheat the online exam system so got like 80% with dogshit knowledge. I had to work for the assignments tho and they were tough. I managed to scrape 60% on all occasions luckily thanks to my friends Year 1 was hard coz of all the studying I had to do. But year 2 was a walk in the park coz I learned absolutely nothing. I just traded crypto instead.

Extreme procrastination followed by an intense spurt of productivity only when a deadline is urgently near is a really common thing with ADHD btw. Definitely not suggesting you have ADHD, only a professional could tell you that, but figuring that out about myself was massive in learning to study, and honestly be productive in general.

12 hours a day is not that impossible when mugging for exams, or if your daily schedule is filled with school and tuition and homework, but to do 12 hours of independent learning daily for a yr is pretty impressive. How many years of syllabus did you cover in that 1 yr?

Hey I was wondering when u can tell if ur working hard enough? For instance, if ur just filling up ur study time rather than spending it being as productive as possible. I have trouble knowing how hard to push myself and how fast I should be going when I work.

It happens with me too. I would suggest trying to set up goals for every single day for eg, this particular lesson from this particular subject for today. And remember, initially when you set up these everyday goals, try to put them a little less than your ability. For eg, if you are capable of revising 3-4 chapters a day, set your goal for 2 chapters only cuz if due to any reason you couldn't complete it, you won't feel demotivated at all. And trust me the moment you complete your goal, you literally gonna feel like a king lol. All the best. Ganbatte!
