The University of Toronto really has sole great spaces for PhD students. My university does have a good library but limited seating space, so I use my department library to sit and concentrate. 😬 I just found your videos so I don’t really have any questions, but I will explore your time management videos and other fun videos before asking you things. Thank you!

Hi Ishita! Excited to get to know you more- I saw that you just connected on Instagram as well. The department library sounds like a great solution as well. We are fortunate to have these spaces as a result of the library originally being built for graduate students (though it now serves all students). Another idea that works well is empty classrooms when not in use.

Thank you for your reply! I love the new coffee place series that you’re doing on insta. Empty classrooms don’t work because of the heat (I’m from India). I really like all the motivation you have, which inspires me to do well too. Please keep up the good work! ❤️❤️

I’m so glad you are enjoying that- unfortunate that we don’t live in the same location so that you could also enjoy the places I am visiting. Keep working hard 😊. It will only lead to good things!

We are so fortunate to have library carrels for PhD candidates. The history of that particular library was that it was originally designed many years ago to serve graduate students only, however, the undergrads were upset by this and the library was opened for all to use. This is why the library has these areas for PhD candidates. I'm so glad you are enjoying the channel and finding it to be good (virtual) company! Happy writing!

What questions do you have about what it's like to study or "dissertate" as a PhD student or candidate? About productive writing- particularly as related to dissertations, theses, and vivas? Please let me know by commenting below. I will answer your questions as best I can... perhaps even create a video about the topic (you might even receive a shoutout!)
