Your video looksinteresting. Too bad the loud music makes it very difficult to hear what you are saying. Instructional videos videos do not need music, even if it is muted, it is distracting.

I have my book in epub format with all its highlights. But it's sometimes difficult to edit epub format (highlight, add comments, etc.). Do you know if it's possible to export the epub into a PDF file, while still retaining/recognizing those highlights/notes? This is because I can highlight/comment on books easily in PDF form. But if I want to transfer that to my e-reader, it seems to be a one-way street. I cannot subsequently export the file back to my computer to manipulate as a PDF. There's no way for me to share the file/research paper around easily with other people. It's stuck now in my kindle app, forever held at ransom by Amazon.

For those interested in how to integrate Notability notes into Notion so that you can update them without downloading a pdf every time and upload it to Notion, you can create a link to your note in Notability (under the share options). Then embed that link in your Notion note, and voila! Now when you make a change to the note, you can press update in Notability, and it will update in your Notion version as well. (Not sure if this was possible at the time this video was published.)

Great video, thanks for sharing. Really cool tip about templates within an existing note page. Still searching for a great way to get quick drawings imported right into notion, but it’s literally perfect otherwise.

This is exactly what I needed! I'm looking for a way to annotate PDFs on my computer or ipad and then organize the text into a note taker. I was looking at OneNote to do this, but also looking at Notion. I got burned on Evernote's rules for using on multiple devices and their pay structure, so also like keeping notes in Google Drive so I know I can keep them handy.

Thanks for that wonderful advice Jacqueline! Totally agree that asking questions empathetically is always the most productive, and takes pressure off the one asking (I definitely get super nervous). I’ve found some of the best questions in science & engineering seminars focus on assumptions made in experimental design & implications for future work so your advice on note taking structure is well taken!

Can anyone suggest me how to Link (or Duplicate+Move) the Notion Readwise DB items to my single P.A.R.A.-based Resources DB? I just want to use/include those articles, books, etc... and their highlights as any other Resource Item within the single P.A.R.A.-based DB.

instead of notobility its better to use OneNote notebook link so that you can even edit it. And from the live link you can even open the desktop app (if we open the link in desktop) or you can open the android or Ios app ( if you open the link in mobile) . Its way more better than the notability or using the embed command of the notion. And theres no need to export as pdf or anything. I use onenote to take notes and also handwritten notes or drawings. Where as I use the notion for task management with its good database support

Great video. Thanks. It gave me a new much-needed perspective. Many times I would write articles with intentions to show off or to seek for an external approval. However, this mindset made me feel so miserable. Meeting your internal goals is something what will make you feel good, you did your best, why should you care what other people think of you. Thanks

Hi Jacqeuline! I just found your channel and it's awesome. What are some other academics channels here on KZbin that you enjoy watching? I had a request - what are some ways that you're using Notion to stay up to date with new research? I'm using a reference manager software but wanted to be more organized and up do date with current research and thought about using Notion for it.

Hi Jacqueline, a fellow Master-Student here. I really loved this video, because it was very "naturalistic" - checking-in with friends, having a coffee, but also technical problems etc. I loved to see how it worked. Also, I really like the idea of an Study Tracker, but personally I would get lost in reflecting and feedback, then grabbing a coffee and BOOM - 15minutes past the time-plan! Do you have any suggestions for that? Another question which came into my mind was: how do you read academic articles? Because when reading and setting a timer I often feel kind of distracted if I should make a break every 30mins, so instead I will read the whole article in 2 hours, no break - but that feels really exhausting, maybe you have an advice for that, too? Again, thank you so much for your videos, I discovered your channel yesterday and you are a huge inspiration! THANK YOU! All the best from Northern Germany.

Oh, I forgot to tell about my study tracking :-) I have no fixed system that works for me all the time, tbh. Sometimes I am using the Forest-App, too, because it will keep me motivated to plant some cute flowers (but it bothers me that some trees only will fully develope after 120minutes), sometimes a stop-watch helps me not to get lost in reading articles and taking notes, because I can see how much time is left and hurry a bit. Years ago a teacher told me to try having a "Learn/Progress Diary", to write down what I achieved during the day. Now I can see the value of that advice, because I often feel like I wasted my time, even if I was busy in the office the whole day. I think in the end of the day when some could see "Oh yeah, there were 5 important Emails I answered" and 3 important books I discovered for my research the day won´t look too bad after all. I think that will be the next thing to try. :-)

Hi Anna-Theres- thanks so much for writing these comments. I'm glad you found the video helpful! To answer your question, I usually try to keep the reflection short so I can stay within my time frame, but sometimes more reflection is needed and if that is the case, I usually tell myself "so be it"- if the quality of reflection will help me moving forward and I have the time, it's much better to capture the thoughts on my mind. Otherwise, they might continue to swim around in my mind as I write and function as a distraction. With academic articles, I find it more helpful to pause where there is a natural pause in the article- e.g., where it makes sense to take a break. I also tend to start by reading the start and end of the article so that I have a sense of what is to come and this helps me with sensing where it might be best to take a break. Sometimes you have to read for a while, but a little stretch break can help with staying focused on the task- for example, I just did a quick Zumba dance before sitting back down to write.

The learn-progress diary is a great idea! Especially with longer-term projects, it's important to feel a sense of accomplishment along the way- this helps with motivation. Such a great suggestion and thanks for mentioning it here where everyone can benefit from it. Forest is a fantastic app as well! I agree re: how some trees don't bloom unless a full two hours is put in... it would be nice to be able to pause and earn those full trees. Glad you've joined our community!

This video has really helped by bringing a new perspective to why I feel I can be super productive, yet bet so unproductive when the time comes. I've had writing and study sessions where I was feeling the exact feelings you mentioned, and when I do I am much more effective and finish in half the time. However, I don't always experience these emotions and end up getting nothing done a lot of days too. I've never thought of purposely engaging with these emotions prior and during my writing to ensure that I'm in the right mindset. It's honestly a game changer. Thank you so much!
