I think the BRICS group failed when it started to include other countries without making any parameters. BRICS has lost its status as an elite/exclusive group of countries. The BRICS group seems to have a mindset of simply opposing/antagonizing the West without trying to set and achieve its own proper goals for prosperity.

Disagree with the fact that BRICS is a China dominated group. Each and every member has the right to agree on disagreement. That's why they have brought partner group model for expansion as the cour group can retain their status equally in the group. If at all there will be a BRICS currency in the future, the terms of exchanges would be agreed upon by all the BRICS members and not just China. Also, it means that bilateral disagreements have no impact on the workings of the BRICS. A primary example is the Indo China border disengagement.

It's simple really 1) China is an autocracy and indian is an democracy 2) The west needed a factory so china became one. 3) China plans for the long term, well look at their planning of taking complete control over world lithium trade it took them 20-25 years to accomplish that. And our regime changes every five years with it changes all the planning. The solution to this is to have a good government for at least 25-30 years. So the policies remain the same and all the development projects keep going. Subhash Chandra Bose at time said when India becomes independent then India needs to be an autocracy for at least 20 years until all the things are settled and the path is fixed. But that never happened so here we are.
