When China started growing at that time their currency was not as strong. Moreover they do not depend upon imports even for raw materials. So it doesnot bothers them. A sudden change in currency value is dangerous, and not a slow and steady change.

Rupee depreciation = Higher Inflation. Because import cost will be higher. Eg, costly crude oil -- Costly transportation -- Inflated rates of comodities. (But again nothing is fixed in economics, everything depends upon number of factors)
