Right! However in the ancient times, the builders worked differently. Today we use equations to calculate the loads and forces acting on a building and we can accurately determine the properties of materials. So it is possible to balance the forces using the minimum amount of materials. This reduces cost. Ancient builders couldn’t determine the loads and forces accurately. So they used a lot of materials to create stable buildings. This was very expensive and took a long time. If we consider some of the great buildings of the ancient times, it took decades or generations to build them. Then, there’s also a big difference in the materials used. Ancient builders used weaker, but long lasting materials. Today we use stronger, but not very durable materials. Now, I can’t say what is the cause of water leakage at the newly built temple. That’s a matter for investigation.
