Let us take a moment and thanks Shri Shri Subhash Chandra Bose. Because of him we have Andaman and Nicobar island from Japan. Otherwise it may still be under Japan's control which means under full control of USA, which they could use to pressure Indian.

And please read atrocities by japanese army on indians while they stay on nicobar island and how they used indians for target practice.

Mukesh Dhariwal Andaman and Nicobar islands [emphasis on the last s ] were always in the (British) India. During WW II when Allied forces (Anglo-American) forces were defeated by the Imperial Japanese forces, under Gen. Percival, were confined to PoW camp in Singapore (that was a fishermen's village then), Azad Hind Fauz (INA) was formed, S C Bose took over its command, collaborated with the Japanese who planned to attack India and these islands-chain were taken over by them. They were named Shahid (Andaman group) & Swaraj (Nicobar group) by S C Bose, The joint (INA-Japanese) Command was in control till Japan was defeated in 1945. It means for a few years under INA control. Later they were reverted back to India (Britain, as the rulers of India).

RC As islands of strategic importance these have a great potential. Already ideas like building a busy tourist place with a casino in tow, were floated in the air. Anticipation of coming events is part of great 'Statesmanship'. In this case it (proposal for a township-port) will preempt such fancy ideas. I am for preserving Nature. In this case of Nicobar city, some 800,000 need to be cut & am not for it. But if economic forces take over & do that damage, it is better we do it, before that.
