That’s a bit of a stretch based on our criteria but who knows what Whiskey Advocate rates on. We do think it’s cool that Jack made a product they really didn’t have to.

Just saw this, nice review for the whiskey flavors! This probably won't reach a lot of people, but the price comparisons in the vid were far off. JD Bonded is almost 2Xs the price of OF 100. The $30 MSRP for the JD is for 700mL, though I have never seen it for that price. Here it ranges from $31.49 to $35 + tax. The 1L is even more at $52.99. OF 100 is $42.99 for 1.75L & the Rye is $26-28 for 1L. In MA the JD Bonded can be found at $40.99 1L, though still much higher than OF 100.

We’re not sure we’d go that far but we can see a definite preference to the fruit-forward profile over the Turkey funk (even if we prefer Turkey).

I love both of these for all the reasons you said. My preference is OF100 for a mixer (that's not a slight to OF) and JD as a neat pour.

I am completely out of all my OF bottles. This is a tragic oversight and must be remedied. I do have the JD Bonded. I'm on the fence, but definitely a good value.

Hell, the first time I tried JD was in the dead of winter while walking from one party to another. My buddy accidentally dropped his bottle (twenty-sixer) on the icey road. Lord knows we got down on our knees at once and licked the bulk of it up, pausing here and there to spit out the glass. The crazy things we do as teenagers eh. Thanks for the great review. The flavor profile of the Old Forrester 100 is my definite preference. Both are very good for the price!

Nice comparison. I am not a big rye guy, but have been trying more. My first bottle of rye I bought was Old Forester 100 Rye. Have picked up Pikesville, New Riff Balboa Rye, Wyoming Whiskey Outryder, Old Overholt BIB and a Sagamore Spirits 7 Year Rye SLB Drinks pick since. I then got the Bardstown Origin Rye and liked it. Heard some reviewers who said the JD Bonded Rye could appeal to non rye drinkers. I picked it up, but have not cracked it open yet. 🥃

Nice to see someone else mention Wy Outryder, it’s one I reach for on occasion because I think it has foundation but definitely it’s own thing. Some days it is just the perfect thing. Solid list you have there.

Yeah other channels know what they pour and then have the bottles on the table. Might not know what order, but it is a process of elimination, like by,..proof, particular taste like rye, wheat, even color, etc. BLIND is BLIND.

Def prefer JD Bonded. I know summer is over but still hot in TN. Bonded goes great for this Boubon Mai Tai * 2 oz bourbon * 1 oz banana liqueur (I prefer Tempus Fugit) * 0.5 oz lime juice * 0.5 oz orgeat Combine. Shake. Strain over pebble or crushed ice. I also dash some Angostura bitters over the top. F***ing delicious....🤌

Interesting take with that, I don't know if that qualifies as a mai tai, but I love them so I am definitely trying this, thanks for sharing. I suppose if you really want to amp up that banana you could swap the Jack with Howler Head whiskey too.
