Agree 100% about letting go of the FOMO. If your favorite bottle is the one you don’t have yet, you miss out on the good whiskey you already have.

I've pretty much figured out what I like for budget bottles, which I continue to rotate in and out of at home. Throughout 2024 I figured out just how much I like toasted and double oaked products, which I plan to pursue in 2025. A friend had me sample a barrel proof double oaked bourbon from a smaller distillery that was a maple, caramel, chocolate, cherry and heavy cream flavor bomb! That's my 2025 whiskey game plan. I'm just exhausted having to play odds on raffles and trying to build up relationships with stores that so far have not panned out at all. In a number of ways, the whole whiskey scene has become pretty disgusting and grotesque. I'm burnt out. Once again, social media exposure has ruined another hobby more than it has cultivated it. There are a handful of whiskey-tube channels that continue to give me hope in an otherwise hopeless environment. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!

2024 ended up being a tale of two wants for me. I have been gradually shrinking my year over year budget and if I look only at what I brought home, I did OK, going over budget a little bit. But the other half turned out to be that I discovered a world of bottles at some amazing bars that I otherwise, would never get to try, much less own and I ended up spending almost as much in 2024 as I did in 2023 if my bar spending is included. 2025, I hope to continue to dial back my spending. No, I WILL dial it back. But going forward, I hope to continue to find some great pours at bars, and I'll likely buy more expensive bottles, but fewer bottles.

More impromptu singing by Erin and more magniloquence by Josh in 2025 😂 For me…move more in to the whisk(e)y sphere with my present knowledge and experience; social media content (with my own spin), collaboration, leading testings, and continued education. I need to start doing and not JUST planning. Happy New Year y’all!

My wife surprised me with a trip to Nashville for my 40th birthday. Southern Collective was a minutes walk from our AirBnB. We had a private tour of the barrels and tasted right out of them. Awesome tour with lots of samples. Great owner and great bottles. I ended up saving my money for a NBC bottle, but Southern collective would have been a good local choice too.

Love Southern Collective! My brother and I got a "tour"--of a large closet that used to have wedding dresses and is now filled with barrels--and tasted some of the straight-up best whiskeys ever out of those barrels. Such a great time. I ended up gifting him a stupidly good [Something] Chucker Rye and hope a vial of it will be headed my way soon for me to revisit.

To your "the videos will be what they will be", I think that's fantastic. The lesson many KZbinrs need to learn is that it's not all about fitting a mold or production value or any of the other thing that as you become more successful you feel like you need to change or add. It's about the personality you bring to the "show". That's why people tuned in to start with and why they continue to come back week after week. There's tons of whiskeytubers to choose from.....it's the personality that people relate to and wanna watch. Cheers to you guys being you guys!

Thanks so much for the kind words! We're always us, which is why it's always a bit odd when people call our videos a "show," but we totally get what folks mean and 100% track with you here as well. Authenticity is something you can't fake, and it's by far the best thing about being able to watch content on KZbin vs on television. Cheers to the new year!

I just finished a glass of Oregon Spirit bourbon as I started the video, and now I've poured a glass of Balcones Baby Blue corn whisky. 🥃 10:34 I've never been subject to FOMO - whether in whiskey or anything else. I just don't have that gene, I guess. That makes like a ton easier. 🙂 I have raised the ceiling of what I've been willing to pay if I have the fundage (I've paid as much as $70 in the past year), but I just don't care whether I have every release of EC BP, or the latest special release from X Distillery, or whatever. 🙂 19:45 My life these days revolves around God and my wife. Everything else is pretty peripheral. I go to work because it's necessary, but when I'm not at work I'm perfectly content to sit with a book and a glass of whisky, knowing my wife is in the next room. I've started singing sacred harp again, when my work schedule allows, and while it's in season I've been pursuing the wild McRib, but if I have my Bible by me, and my wife, and some good whisky, I'm happy - and the whisky is gravy, not a necessity. 🙂

Amen to all of that, especially the second part about 19:45 and afterwards. What more does one need? Not much if you ask us. Cheers and God bless in 2025!

That's awesome! A Porsche 911 was always the poster on the wall as a kid. Love the air cooled models, especially the 964, but admittedly fell head over heels for the 996 Turbos when they came out. I'm also a big fan of the retro modern 992.1s. Also a big Cayman fan and recently got to drive one--my first time behind the wheel of a Porsche ever--and it exceeded expectations for a base model. I'm many years away from ever owning a Porsche of my own as family, the kiddo, investments and retirement take precedent, but I'm thoroughly enjoying the in-depth research and am making a list of models of interest at different price points for when the time comes. Cheers!

I think I told you on Instagram, that as you drive your long route, maybe a few of the Vinepair Cocktail College podcast episodes may be of interest…history, techniques, etc. And Barrel picks can definitely be oversaturated of late…me I’m trying to focus on the more unusual ones…the Hard Truths, and Holladays and such. So long as Erin keeps to her classic nosing notes (which she obviously will), all will be well. As always, I will always miss the OG Stuff in S&W…true it was your double blind structure that I still use that mostly won me over, but I do miss the nerdy stuff….I loved visiting with Erin in Louisville about those days! Cya in July…have an amazing 25!

Already looking forward to July on this end as well! Cheers to you and to an amazing 2025!

I'm actually a little amused by Erin's choice of a sip, but only because I started on bourbon in about 2008 because single malt scotch got too expensive for me. I still like it and keep some favorites around but now prefer bourbon and rye. Having said that, I have to admit I'm getting intrigued by the American single malt movement and will likely try it in 2025. Cedar Ridge is a particular interest because my wife is from Iowa City and my brother in law has promised we'll head over to the distillery/winery in the spring when we're up there.

Love the channel. I'm not sure I fully understand what you (and other channels) mean by you have barrel picks. I know what a barrel pick is, but when you say you have almost 40 barrel picks, are those barrels that you are also selling or offering to patreon members? Do you have your own bottles with the "stuff and whiskey" label?
@stuffandwhiskey2 күн бұрын
Great question. It's not a private "white label" situation under our own brand. We simply go to distilleries, taste and select individual barrels that fit our palates, and then make those available for purchase to members of our community via partnerships with online retailers who can ship to most states. For example, coming up we have two Russell's Reserve barrels, a Four Gate double oaked selection, two New Holland barrels, a Dark Arts barrel, a Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut, a Bardstown Bourbon Company barrel with a unique mashbill (not their Origin series), and a dozen or more picks from Lux Row and MGP (Penelope, Ezra Brooks, Rebel, Rossville Union, Remus, etc).
@americangto2 күн бұрын
@stuffandwhiskey love to try your Russell's Reserve pick. I'm fairly new to whiskey, and RR single barrel was one of the first bottles that wow'd me. Have to admit I've never tried any of the others you listed.

We've had these for some time but good eye! Erin got me this one for our wedding day since men's rings are so inexpensive, and we got hers for her 40th birthday a few years back before prices on used pieces skyrocketed. Fun fact in that my 16013 is specifically from Erin's birth year and her 16013 with the light champagne dial is specifically from my birth year. Very sentimental pieces for both of us for obvious reasons. Cheers!

Well this wasn't what I was expecting and that's on me. I was thinking it was a "what companies are gonna release in 2025". Instead I got a this is how you can support the channel in 2025. Admit that I turned it off around the 10 min mark. Enjoy y'all, but this one, not as much.
@stuffandwhiskey2 күн бұрын
That's more than okay. The only bottles we're truly looking forward to in 2025 were discussed as single barrels are our favorite products and we're enjoying diving into international whiskies as well, which we discussed. The video was just had a bit more of a broad scope than only whiskey, which is why we titled it "what we're looking forward to" and not "whiskey we're looking forward to." For what it's worth, we've invested thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars into this channel over the years, and we know viewers who are invested in the channel spend nearly an hour of their week watching us if they happen to catch all of our videos. We put a lot of work into this, and we're grateful for the time that people invest in watching as well. I see your point about channel support, but this was more about providing information for folks regarding the channel as we often get asked these questions via email or privately. Cheers and Happy New Year!
