My husband and I watched this here on this snowy Washington state evening in late February....boy we were envious of that mouthful! Now I know what to do with that big cabbage I just bought! You're a great teacher. Diana and Rick

My Dad was Polish. His grandparents came here straight out of Poland. My great grandparents. I've made these a few times. My Dad called them pigs in a blanket. You broke down the recipe and preparation so simple and detailed. My taste buds are calling for these now. They also taste fantastic after a day or two. Dziękuję🍲🍺

This recipe is so similar to my mother's. Her side of our family is Hungarian and the only difference from your recipe is that Mom would only use 1 can of Campbell's tomato soup blended with one large can of Hunt's crushed tomatoes. Hungarians also like to make the cabbage rolls with sauerkraut instead of the tomato sauce and it's equally delicious that way. I like serving both styles over mashed potatoes.

I grew up eating these and have been making them for my family now. I’ve also made it with ground venison and actually prefer it that way. I’ve always used tomato juice but next time I’ll try them with Tomato soup. Got me hungry for them again soon! Thank you!

Yum! My grandma was Polish and my grandfather Sicilian from Buffalo NY and this looks just like she would make it. I think she might have added mushroom or cream of mushroom soup to the rice/meat mixture, but I'm not sure. Looks SOOO GOOD!

Hi, these look amazing! Thirty years ago, I helped to make hundreds of half-leaf sized cabbage rolls, for a banquet. The filling was mostly rice, with sauteed green peppers, onions, chopped up cooked cabbage (the leaf ridges and the core), stewed tomatoes, and seasonings. And a small amount of meat if desired. Then covered over completely with tomato juice. They can be several layers deep, and take longer to cook, like about 3 hours. Great for a potluck. Thanks for the lovely video! 🍅

The white rice can be stuffed uncooked but the rolls should then be pierced to allow the rice to swell.

A more easy way...ready: cut cabbage up...cook ground beef...cook rice. Then stir all together...can add onion/garlic....add tomato soup as needed...put in crock pot...and cook high or low until done...

I now make “unstuffed” Hungarian stuffed peppers. I dislike trying to stuff the peppers and then squeezing them into a pot, so I make the meat mixture into little meatballs, cut up the peppers into chunks. Everything else is the same as my orig recipe. The gravy gets a sour cream finish and I serve with spaetzle. Re cabbage rolls, I think I’m going to make the meat mixture (beef and pork) the day before. I have trouble standing for any length of time so if I do recipes in stages, it helps.

You could make a cabbage “lasagna”. Make the meat mixture, layer cabbage leaves, meat, cabbage etc. pour soup over and cook.

@brokenkettlerecipes1474 Жыл бұрын
Hi! You can chop the cabbage first. Make small meat balls. Add your tomato soup or V-8 . Bring to boil and then simmer to tender. 👍
